Magnetic multi-wall carbon nanotubes (M-MWCNTs) were used as an adsorbent for removal of furaltadone from aqueous solutions, and the adsorption behaviors were investigated by varying pH, sorbent amount, sorption time and temperature. The results showed that the adsorption efficiency of furaltadone reached 97% when the dosage of M-MWCNT was 0.45 g · L−1, the pH was 7 and the adsorption time was 150 min. The kinetic data showed that the pseudo-second-order model can fit the adsorption kinetics. The sorption data could be well explained by the Langmuir model under different temperatures. The adsorption process was influenced by both intraparticle diffusion and external mass transfer. The experimental data analysis indicated that the electrostatic attraction and π–π stacking interactions between M-MWCNT and furaltadone might be the adsorption mechanism. Thermodynamic analysis reflected that adsorption of furaltadone on the M-MWCNT was spontaneous and exothermic. Our study showed that M-MWCNTs can be used as a potential adsorbent for removal of furaltadone from water and wastewater.

Sustainability and environmental concerns have persuaded researchers to explore renewable materials, such as nature-derived polysaccharides, and add value by changing chemical structures with the aim to possess specific properties, like biological properties. Meanwhile, finding methods and strategies that can lower hazardous chemicals, simplify production steps, reduce time consumption, and acquire high-purified products is an important task that requires attention. To break through these issues, electrical discharging in aqueous solutions at atmospheric pressure and room temperature, referred to as the “solution plasma process”, has been introduced as a novel process for modification of nature-derived polysaccharides like chitin and chitosan. This review reveals insight into the electrical discharge in aqueous solutions and scientific progress on their application in a modification of chitin and chitosan, including degradation and deacetylation. The influencing parameters in the plasma process are intensively explained in order to provide a guideline for the modification of not only chitin and chitosan but also other nature-derived polysaccharides, aiming to address economic aspects and environmental concerns.

The thermal conductivities of selected deep eutectic solvents (DESs) were determined using the modified transient plane source (MTPS) method over the temperature range from 295 K to 363 K at atmospheric pressure. The results were found to range from 0.198 W·m−1·K−1 to 0.250 W·m−1·K−1. Various empirical and thermodynamic correlations present in literature, including the group contribution method and mixing correlations, were used to model the thermal conductivities of these DES at different temperatures. The predictions of these correlations were compared and consolidated with the reported experimental values. In addition, the thermal conductivities of DES mixtures with water over a wide range of compositions at 298 K and atmospheric pressure were measured. The standard uncertainty in thermal conductivity was estimated to be less than ± 0.001 W·m−1·K−1 and ± 0.05 K in temperature. The results indicated that DES have significant potential for use as heat transfer fluids.
