The paper presents an analysis of the current state of research on separation flowsheets based on the combination of distillation and phase separation processes, as well as heteroazeotropic distillation. It is shown that the works of foreign researchers devoted to the study of flowhseets with decanters are more focused on finding ways to reduce energy consumption by introducing additional separators, a combination of several methods (extractive and heteroazeotropic complex columns with external decanters. The task of synthesizing all possible separation flowsheets is not considered in these works. In this paper, a complete set of flowsheets of different structures based on the combination of distillation and phase separation processes, including the use of columns with an external decanter, is proposed for water - butyl acetate - methanol and methanol - heptane-water ternary mixtures separation. Aspen Plus and NRTL model were used for mathematical modelling of phase equilibrium (the relative error of describing liquid-vapor and liquid-liquid equilibrium is less than 5%) was chosen as a method of research. Operating parameters for distillation columns (the number of theoretical plates, feed plate, reflux ratio) and the total energy consumption were obtained for each case. The necessity of using a double feed-plate column for separating of propanol-1 - water - butanol-1 and ethyl acetate - water - butyl acetate ternary systems was explained by the presence of extractive effect. Analytical review of modern publications and results of own research allowed to formulate a number of recommendations for the synthesis of energy effective flowsheets based on a combination of distillation and phase separation processes.

As the UN Agenda 2030 recognizes heritage protection in several goals, this research was focused on the improvement of the graffiti removal from stones. The cleaning of two graffiti paints with different composition (an alkyd- and an acrylic–based paints) from two stones (gneiss and travertine) was performed considering a synergistic approach based on the combination of a low-toxic solvent ternary mixture, followed by an Nd:YAG laser. The different concentrations of the low-toxic solvents were based on the triangular Teas graph, keeping similar Hansen solubility of the products commonly used in conservation of cultural heritage: methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and n-butyl acetate. The n-butyl acetate was replaced by mixture A (51% ethyl alcohol/11% acetone/38% isooctane) and MEK by mixture B (7%/13%/80%). Regardless of the graffiti composition, the gneiss was satisfactorily cleaned with the mixture A, while for the travertine, the best results were achieved by the mixture B. Then, surfaces treated with the mixtures were irradiated with a QS Nd:YAG laser working at 532 nm. The cleaning evaluation was performed by stereomicroscopy, color spectrophotometry, roughness measurements, reflectance measurements, and scanning electron microscopy. As result, regardless on the stone and the graffiti paints, it was confirmed the enhancement of cleaning of the mixtures followed by the Nd:YAG laser. However, it is crucial to identify previously the concentrations of the chemical products that allow the best performance considering the graffiti-stone interaction, on the one hand, and the optimal laser’s parameters, on the other hand.

Excess molar volumes of five ternary mixtures of 2- methoxy ethanol(1) +butyl acetate(2)+benzene(3), +toluene(3), +chlorobenzene(3), +bromobenzene(3), and +nitrobenzene(3) have been measured at 303.15K. The excess molar volume exhibited positive deviation over the entire range of composition in the systems 2-methoxy ethanol(1)+ butyl acetate(2)+ benzene(3),+toluene(3) and sigmoid behavior in the case of the remaining systems. Flory's statistical theory have been extended to predict the excess molar volumes of the five ternary mixtures at 303.15 k over a wide range of composition . An excellent agreement has been found between the experimental and theoretical excess molar volumes , both in magnitude and sign .

Heat capacities along the saturation line have been measured in a recently designed calorimeter from the temperature of 293 K up to the temperature given in parentheses behind the esters measured: methyl formate (298 K), ethyl acetate (340 K), butyl acetate (364 K), methyl propionate (342 K), ethyl propionate (348 K), and propyl propionate (367 K).
