Coordination polymers of the general formula Co[HN(CH2)nNH]SO4 possessing layers formed by CoO4N2 octahedra and SO4 tetrahedra have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The layers, linked by diaminoalkanes, cause apertures of varying widths, which are determined by the chain length of the amine. These materials appear to possess weak ferromagnetic interaction at low temperatures.Key words: coordination polymers, cobalt sulfate, solvothermal synthesis.

A 1-D [MnIII3O] based magnetic chain material amazingly exhibits the coexistence of spin-glass, spin-canting, and metamagnetic behaviours as well as slow relaxation of magnetization under different applied magnetic fields.

Nine coordination polymers based on dinuclear metal units/metal-carboxylate chains and 1,1′:4′,1′′-terphenyl-2′,4,4′′,5′-tetracarboxylic acid have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Complexes 2 and 9 show the weak ferromagnetic interactions.

Six novel cobalt–carboxylate–phosphinate coordination polymers exhibit 1D chain, 2D networks and 3D frameworks. With difference on their structures, the compounds show remarkable magnetic behavior diversity containing spin canting, spin glass, and antiferromagnetic interaction.
