A red fluorescent turn-on chemosensor TB-COOH for Al3+was developed. The dye showed excellent AIE and biocompatibility properties, in which imaging detection and real-time monitoring of Al3+in living HeLa cells were successfully achieved.

An aggregation-induced emission (AIE) based “turn-on” fluorescent chemodosimeter for selective detection of Pb2+ ions has been developed. The probe is a phosphate functionalized tetraphenylethylene derivative and the resulting lead–TPE complex has very low solubility in working solvent and triggers AIE and shows a low detection limit of 10 ppb.

A pyrene-based probe bearing benzothiazole ionophore (Py-BTZ) was synthesised as a “turn-on” fluorescent chemosensor for the detection of Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions in CH3CN : H2O (1 : 1, v/v) solvent mixes.
