There is perennial interest in the quality of education relative to its cost. For example, several Supreme Courts have ruled that funding education on the basis of a real property tax is unconstitutional because it makes the quality of a child's education dependent upon the wealth of his parents and neighbors. California, Michigan, Texas, and other states have focused on this problem, though the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Texas decision (Rodriquez et. al. vs. San Antonio). These cases illustrate continuing interest in educational quality and cost. At the school level, the relation between quality and cost is also well known. Most, if not all, school administrators continually face the problem of providing education with rapidly increasing costs. In Nevada, for example, education costs have been increasing at a rate of 13.5 percent per year.

Background: Psoriasis impacts 2% of the world’s population. The disease affects the quality of life of patients by causing pain and depression. Little information is available regarding the impact of psoriasis on San Antonio patients. Objective: This project obtained information from patients about how they are coping with psoriasis, impact on their quality of life, barriers to care, and support systems they have. Methods: An IRB approved six question survey was administered to 50 patients who attended the VA, a psoriasis support group, and Haven for Hope homeless clinic. Results: 40% of patients who completed the survey had been living with psoriasis for less than 5 years. 75% of patients in this group claimed they were severely depressed. The disease impacted them most psychologically and their greatest barrier to care was access to medications that “cured” their psoriasis. 60% of the patients were living with psoriasis for more than 5 years, and 81% claimed they were not depressed at all. Psoriasis impacted them most financially and their greatest barrier was the cost of care. Conclusion: Acutely, psoriasis patients are impacted psychologically and are frustrated with their disease. Over time, they learn to live with their condition and are impacted by the economic aspects of care.

AbstractThe focus on educational quality on the single school-level and the aim for ongoing school-improvement direct the attention to investigating the quality of leadership of school administrators. However, despite a large number of educational leadership models, some do not provide a sound theoretical framework, as they confound domains and tasks with the leadership style or identify leadership styles that are based on inconsistent assumptions of motivational psychology. In this paper, a leadership model for the specific context of leading school improvement processes is designed using a functional approach, which is based on the theory of personality systems interactions (PSI). We identified four styles of leadership enactment: the (1) visionary-enthusiastic, the (2) (latent) anxious-goal-fixated, the (3) passive-avoidant, and the (4) self-directed style. The newly developed instrument was validated for a sample of n = 901 teachers and k = 75 principals. In the discussion section, particular attention is paid to the self-directed style, for which favorable effects can be postulated both in the change management of school improvement processes and in regard to the motivational experience of teachers.

One of the key to maintaining the quality of Syariah pious performance of BUSor UUS and BPRS is to develop and educate employees to maintain superior quality of human resources as well as ready and able to become the locomotive of syariah banking development in Indonesia. Training and development activities provide dividends to employees and companies, in the form of skills and skills that will further be a valuable asset for the company. This study aims to determine how much influence the cost of education to increase the number of assets and profits derived by Islamic banking in Indonesia both BUS, UUS and BPRS. The method used in this research is quantitative method by using secondary data in the form of report of educational cost level and increasing amount of assets and profit in BUS or UUS and BPRS in Indonesia during 2009-2013 period. For the data analysis process this research uses simple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis t test with educational cost in BUS or UUS and SRB as independent variable (X) and total assets and profit in BUS or UUS and BPRS as dependent variable (Y). Looking at the results of statistical tests using SPSS tools can be seen that the cost of education does not affect the amount and amount of assets and profits owned by BUS or UUS and BPRS in Indonesia.

This Article will analyze the Texas school finance system, evaluate its challenges, and propose reforms to simplify it. Although the Texas Legislature repeatedly promotes the idea that education is a priority, there is a long history of controversy over many aspects of education, particularly funding. Thus, to fully understand the current funding and legislative dilemma, Part III will analyze the current funding scheme. Part IV will examine the history of the finance system culminating in February 2013 when a Texas District Court ruled the current school finance system is unconstitutional due to claims of adequacy and a finding that the funding process is essentially a statewide property tax. The issues of adequacy, state property tax, and efficiency, as well as specific solutions for each, will be discussed in Part V. Instead of attempting to amend the current funding plan so that it will be constitutional by meeting the former criteria, Part VI advocates abandoning the current funding scheme for something completely different. This Article will not provide or promote a definitive solution to the issue, however, it will prove that the Texas Legislature’s approach to education funding for the last two decades has been unhurried and incomplete. As a result, both schools and students have been seriously and negatively affected by this unhurried trial-and-error system. Thus, instead of trying to fix an already broken system, this Article will emphasize the importance of a major structural change for school funding.

Since the 1980s, numerous transformations in higher education were experienced in Latin America, and especially in Chile, a country that allowed private entities to enter the education systems and develop a market. The opportunity triggered an increase of coverage and competition to capture and retain students, followed by marketing strategies delivering student satisfaction and pursuing student loyalty. Moreover, since 2012, higher education institutions in Chile have been allowed to adopt a policy of gratuity, giving families the co-responsibility of dealing with the cost of education. So, some institutions adopted gratuity and continued receiving funds from the state, but others did not, relying instead on family income. The split in the financial responsibility of higher education seems to have generated varied reactions from the students and their families, including their satisfaction with and loyalty to the institution. Despite the abundant literature on higher education, however, a few studies attempt to explain and compare student satisfaction and loyalty across types of institutions, such as those that opted for gratuity versus those that did not. This study examines a set of relevant attributes for understanding that phenomenon; attributes such as quality of service, satisfaction, trust, commitment, and loyalty. The results reveal a prevalence of trust and familiarity among the students attending an institution with gratuity. In contrast, the results demonstrate a preponderance of commitment and satisfaction among the students attending a non-gratuity institution that relies on family, private, and personal funds to support their education.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of education cost, university image and quality of lecturers on student decisions to choose a college. To achieve the proposed goals, a model is applied that reflects the effect of education costs, university image and quality of lecturers on student decisions to choose universities. This model was tested through the use of multiple linear regression equations and the sample was 388 student candidates. The conceptual model shows that the image of a university is the most influential construct on student decisions to choose a campus, followed by the quality of lecturers and the cost of education. In this paper, the cost of education variable produces a reliability of 0.861, a college image of 0.918 and a lecturer quality of 0.937. Further research is needed in order to find more reliable measurements of indicators of education cost, university image and quality of lecturers. The image of a university is the highest impression that is in the minds of students in choosing a university, followed by the quality of lecturers and the cost of education. Proven. The results show that the image of the university, the quality of the lecturers and the cost of education have an influence on student decisions to choose a campus.

Abstract The education system is a whole component of education that is interrelated with one another. Better education system of a country will have a straightforward impact on the quality of the people in the country. The education system in Indonesia and Finland has differences and similarities. Teachers are both given autonomy to develop their teaching. Finland school is a place to grow and develop and is not a place to play and get scores but in Indonesia it is still score oriented, parents will be proud of their children who get good grades. In terms of educator recruitment, Finland set a minimum standard of S2 while in Indonesia at least S1. On the aspect of financing in Indonesian education, it still gets fund from students, but the government provides a variety of educational assistance at all levels such as BOS funds so that at the elementary and junior high school levels the cost of education is free because it is already covered by government assistance funds. Whereas Finland eliminates all education costs at all levels.
