A healthy and beautiful smile can affect appearance and confidence. One of the aesthetic problems in dentistry that is often complained of by patients is excessive gingival display (gummy smile). The excessive gingival display can be caused by several factors, one of which is altered passive eruption (APE). One of the treatments to correct gummy smile related to APE is crown lengthening. Crown lengthening can be with bone reduction (gingivectomy with bone reduction) or without bone reduction (gingivectomy). Crown Lengthening with bone reduction is a surgical procedure that aims to maintain the dentogingival complex and to improve smile aesthetics. The purpose of this case report is to determine the crown lengthening with bone reduction (gingivectomy with bone reduction) procedure as a gummy smile treatment related to APE .A23-year-old female patient, came to Dental Hospital of Universitas Airlangga with complaints of her upper gum which not in the same length and the teeth looked short, she considered her smile was less aesthetic. After conducting analyses relating to aesthetics and periodontal tissue, crown lengthening with bone reduction was chosen for this patient treatment. The treatment results are quite good, visible gingival margins that matched the gingival zenith and improved patient's smile profile. APE as the etiology of patient's gummy smile can be corrected. There are no post-surgical complications such as excessive pain and infection. A proper diagnosis, treatment plan, and good techniques can produce a harmonious smile on the patient.

<p><strong><em>Background :</em></strong><em> There are some factors can cause endodontic failure such as inadequate in cleaning or shaping step, non hermetic obturation, or poor restoration, which can cause bacteria multiply. <strong>Purpose :</strong> To report the management of endodontic failure with nonsurgical treatment. <strong>Case :</strong> 46-year-old woman came to Airlangga Dental Hospital Conservative Dentistry Department to treat her upper right tooth which show symptomatic pain in the last 2 weeks. The tooth has been treated and crowned with porcelain fused to metal about 10 years ago. Clinical examination show the presence of fistula on premolar buccal gingiva, react to percussion.  Radiographic examination show not hermetic obturation in one root canal and radiolucency in the periapical area. The diagnosis for maxillary first premolar is previously treated tooth with chronic periapical abscess.. <strong>Treatment :</strong> Crown and post was removed from the tooth, and endodontic retreatment was done. Follow up 6 months after the retreatment show no reaction to percussion, and radiographic examination show no enlargement periapical lesion. <strong>Conclusion :</strong> Nonsurgical endodontic retreatment always become the first choice to resolve endodontic failure for previously treated tooth.</em></p><p><strong><em>Keywords :</em></strong><em> endodontic failure, maxillary first premolar, nonsurgical endodontic retreatment</em></p><p><strong><em>Correspondence:</em></strong><em> Yongki Hadinata W., drg. Background: Musculoskeletal disorders are not only becoming prevalent among health care professionals in our country but are affecting their health and performance adversely. They are caused by poor ergonomics and awkward posture during work activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of neck and upper limb musculoskeletal disorders in dentists of Lahore, Pakistan. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted during October 2017 to March 2018. The data was collected using convenient sampling technique from 162 Dentists including 52 males and 110 females of Children hospital Lahore, Punjab Dental hospital and Fatima Memorial Hospital, Lahore. Data was collected by using Mangalore Questionnaire for identification of musculoskeletal disorders. Descriptive analysis of the data was done using SPSS version 22.0. Results: Of 162 dentists, 115 (71%) suffered from musculoskeletal disorders. Shoulder was the most commonly affected region (30.9%) followed by neck (25.9%), arm (6.2%), wrist (4.3%), elbow (3.1%) and forearm (0.6%). Pain (45.7%) was found to be the most common complaint followed by muscle weakness (20.4%), paraesthesia (3.7%) and swelling (1.2%). Conclusions: It was concluded that majority of the dentists were suffering from musculoskeletal disorders with shoulder as the most affected region and pain as the most frequent complaint. We aimed to investigate the association between blood pressure (BP) and tooth loss and the mediation effect of age. A cross-sectional study from a reference dental hospital was conducted from September 2017 to July 2020. Single measures of BP were taken via an automated sphygmomanometer device. Tooth loss was assessed through oral examination and confirmed radiographically. Severe tooth loss was defined as 10 or more teeth lost. Additional study covariates were collected via sociodemographic and medical questionnaires. A total of 10,576 patients were included. Hypertension was more prevalent in severe tooth loss patients than nonsevere tooth lost (56.1% vs. 39.3%, p < 0.001). The frequency of likely undiagnosed hypertension was 43.4%. The adjusted logistic model for sex, smoking habits and body mass index confirmed the association between continuous measures of high BP and continuous measures of tooth loss (odds ratio (OR) = 1.05, 95% CI: 1.03–1.06, p < 0.001). Age mediated 80.0% and 87.5% of the association between periodontitis with both systolic BP (p < 0.001) and diastolic BP (p < 0.001), respectively. Therefore, hypertension and tooth loss are associated, with a consistent mediation effect of age. Frequency of undiagnosed hypertension was elevated. Age, gender, active smoking, and BMI were independently associated with raised BP.

Due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, dental treatment performed by undergraduate students at the University of Marburg/Germany was immediately stopped in spring 2020 and stepwise reinstalled under a new hygiene concept until full recovery in winter 2020/21. Patient treatment in the student courses was evaluated based on three aspects: (1) Testing of patients with a SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen (SCRA) Test applied by student assistants (SA); (2) Improved hygiene regimen, with separated treatment units, cross-ventilation, pre-operative mouth rinse and rubber dam application wherever possible; (3) Recruitment of patients: 735 patients were pre-registered for the two courses; 384 patients were treated and a total of 699 tests with the SCRA test were performed by SAs. While half of the patients treated in the course were healthy, over 40% of the patients that were pre-registered but not treated in the course revealed a disease being relevant to COVID (p < 0.001). 46 patients had concerns to visit the dental hospital due to the increase of COVID incidence levels, 14 persons refused to be tested. The presented concept was suitable to enable patient treatment in the student course during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
