This book, comprised of 13 chapters, presents papers which discuss the processes related to the career along one’s life cycle, from adolescents’ professional choices until processes of retirement. Notwithstanding the diversity of life and work contexts, present in the different chapters, they all somewhat correspond in their central purpose, presenting both perspectives and challenges related to contemporary career interventions. Some chapters address themes that are still seldom explored in national literature, while others discuss subjects that are long established in the area, however they are innovative. The authors study them in the context of changes in the world of work in the second decade of the 21st century, of the new career models and psychosocial processes that are linked to human development throughout life. The studies and practices in vocational guidance, career development and retirement, included in this book, are the results of research and practice in recent years carried out by professionals, professors and academics that in different ways have collaborated with the activities of LIOP - Laboratory of Information and Professional Guidance, at the Federal University of Santa Catarina.

The focus of this chapter is an examination of the diversity of living organisms found within urban environments, both inside and outside buildings. The discussion commences with prions and viruses before moving on to consider micro-organisms, plants, and animals. Prions and viruses cause disease in plants and animals, including humans. Micro-organisms are ubiquitous and are found in great numbers throughout urban environments. New technologies are providing new insights into their diversity. Plants may be found inside buildings as well as in gardens and other green spaces. The final sections of the chapter offer a discussion of the diversity of animals that live in urban areas for part or all of their life cycle. Examples of the diversity of life in urban environments are presented throughout, including native and non-native species, those that are benign and deadly, and the common and the rare.

Elements of the physical aspects of urban environments determine which micro-organisms, plants, and animals live in urban environments. In this chapter, climate, air, water, soil, noise, and light are discussed. Urban environments are affected by the climate of the region in which they are located, and in turn and create their own, distinctive urban climate. Air, water, and soil are all affected by urbanization. Pollution of these elements is common. High noise levels and artificial light at night (ALAN—a new phenomenon) are both strongly associated with urban environments. Details of both are discussed. The discussion in this chapter provides a foundation for further exploration of the diversity of life in urban environments and for later exploration of how organisms adapt to urban living, which will be discussed in Parts II and III.

Analysis of genomic sequences has clearly shown that the genomic differences among species do not explain the diversity of life. The genetic code itself serves as only a part of the dynamic complexity that results in the temporal and spatial changes in cell phenotypes during development. It has been concluded that the phenotype of a cell and of the organism as a whole is more influenced by environmentally-induced changes in gene activity than had been previously thought. The emerging field of epigenetics focuses on molecular marks on chromatin; called the epigenome, which serve as transmitters between the genome and the environment. These changes not only persist through multiple cell division cycles, but may also endure for multiple generations. Irregular alterations of the epigenome; called epimutations, may have a decisive role in the etiology of human pathologies such as malignancies and other complex human diseases. Epigenetics can provide the missing link between genetics, disease and the environment. Therefore, this field may have an increasing impact on future drug design and serve as a basis for new therapeutic/preventative approaches. Orv. Hetil., 2012, 153, 214–221.

The application of Islamic Sharia in Aceh should give birth to a tolerant diversity of life, because the qanun covers these procedures, but Aceh is considered to be intolerant of a number of groups, especially institutions that carry out research in the field of diversity, in this article the author wants to examine further the matter of stipulation. Aceh Province seems intolerant, the author examines this case through a document review then the author observes based on the reality that occurs. The result is that the authors assess that there are Non-Muslim people who igNore qanun regulations in the element of building houses of worship that are carried out without obtaining permission and have Not met the terms and conditions stipulated in the Islamic Sharia qanun, apart from these problems, the Acehnese people in general can accept the differences well. social. Therefore, the attitude of caring for unity in carrying out each other's beliefs and obeying and obeying the law of the qanun must be a shared commitment. Reflecting on and practicing the verses of tolerance will foster mutual respect and tolerance among human beings.

This research was conducted at International Elementary School Bunga Matahari,Banda Aceh for its homogeneity, both tribes, nations and religions. This diversity is interesting to have a further study in order to know the process of tolerance guiding in multicultural education. The results of the study show that there are some tasāmuh (tolerance) attitudes in multicultural education as mutual helps, mutual respects, mutual communications, mutual care, not to blame others, not to be selfish and inclusive. The tolerance attitudes which have been conducting at International Elementary School Bunga Matahari,Banda Aceh is in accord with the Islamic education system, but in the teaching of religious education for non-Muslims, not in accordance with the perspective of Islamic the education, the learning process is still discriminatory. The leading factors in supporting the tolerance implementation in multicultural education at National Elementary Bunga Matahari, Banda Aceh are dialogue, egalitarianism, impartiality, the 1945 Constitution, Article 29, 2nd paragraph, multicultural education which contains the values of pluralism and tolerance attitudes towards diversity. The inhibiting factors in developing tolerance attitudes are exclusiveness, learning model which tends to be dogmatic, religion is directed into not free variable, the solution of developing tolerance is that the educational implementation should be oriented on the value that will provide pressure point on how students see, understand, and face the diversity of life in multicultural education.
