Objetivo: caracterizar o perfil epidemiológico de idosos cadastrados na Atenção Primária à Saúde do município de Pombal, Paraíba. Método: estudo transversal, com 307 idosos cadastrados na Atenção Primaria à Saúde, utilizou-se do instrumento de coleta elaborado pelo Grupo de Pesquisa do Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Cuidado e Desenvolvimento Humano, da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Resultados: prevaleceu idosos do sexo feminino (28,3%), casado/união estável (47,9%), católicos (85,3%), que não trabalham (90,6%), aposentados (91,2%), alfabetizados (57,0%), sem consumir bebida alcoólica (90,2), sem fumar (87,6%) e com problemas de saúde (90,9%). Conclusão: notoriamente, torna-se imprescindível a realização de medidas voltadas a promoção da saúde e prevenção de danos e agravos, bem como manutenção e reabilitação da saúde, de acordo com os princípios da equidade e integralidade do cuidado, principalmente no tocante a Atenção Primária à Saúde.

Objetivo: caracterizar mulheres em faixa etária de risco do câncer de mama usuárias da Atenção Primária à Saúde. Metodologia: estudo descritivo, transversal com abordagem quantitativa, em duas Unidades Básicas de Saúde de Teresina, Piauí. A pesquisa foi realizada com 80 mulheres na faixa de 50 a 69 anos e a coleta de dados ocorreu no período de agosto a novembro de 2017. Resultados: a maioria das mulheres (72,5%) tinha entre 50 a 59 anos, possuíam ensino fundamental incompleto (46,3%) e estavam com sobrepeso (40,0%).  Muitas não faziam uso de álcool (88,8%), não eram fumantes (83,8%), mas não praticavam atividade física (60,0%). Destaca-se que 18,8% das mulheres possuíam histórico familiar desse tipo de câncer, 50% faziam o autoexame, sendo que 30% destas faziam raramente. Relataram ainda, jamais terem sido examinadas por profissionais, 56,2%; e que, nunca fizeram mamografia, 23,8%. Conclusão: apesar das ações de promoção e prevenção da saúde realizadas nas referidas Unidades Básicas de Saúde, o estudo apontou que, um número significativo de mulheres na faixa etária de50 a 69 anos estão expostas a riscos importantes de câncer de mama e ainda persistem sem realizar os exames de rastreamento.Descritores: Neoplasias da Mama. Abstract Objective: To reflect on the approaches to the health of the LGBTI+ population, Primary Health Care and Nursing in the care of this population. Method: The reflection is based on a brief characterization of the LGBTI+ population and their health, an analysis of the nurses' work in Primary Health Care (PHC), and a debate about particularities of the nursing care for the LGBTI+ population in the PHC. Results: The LGBTI+ population is composed of many populations defined by the diversity of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and biological sex. In Family Health teams, nurses must know the main demands of this population. The institutional reorientation of PHC imposes new challenges to the enjoyment of the right to health of the LGBTI+ population. Conclusion and implications for practice: Although the National LGBT Health Policy is seven years old, studies are still scarce, foremost in Nursing. Considering that the LGBTI+ population is also under the Nursing responsibility in the PHC, it is up to this professional category to provide integral assistance with a view to minimizing the inequalities suffered by this population.

OBJECTIVE: To characterize the process of selection of medicines for primary health care in the Brazilian regions. METHODS: This article is part of the Pesquisa Nacional sobre Acesso, Utilização e Promoção do Uso Racional de Medicamentos – Serviços, 2015 (PNAUM – National Survey on Access, Use and Promotion of Rational Use of Medicines – Services, 2015), a cross-sectional study that consisted of an information gathering in a sample of cities in the five regions of Brazil. The data used were collected by interviews with those responsible for pharmaceutical services (PS) (n = 506), professionals responsible for the dispensing of medicines (n = 1,139), and physicians (n = 1,558). To evaluate the difference between ratios, we adopted the Chi-square test for complex samples. The differences between the averages were analyzed in generalized linear models with F-test with Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons. The analyses considered significant had p≤0.05. RESULTS: The professionals responsible for pharmaceutical services reported non-existence of a formally constituted Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (PTC) (12.5%). They claimed to have an updated (80.4%) list of Essential Medicines (85.3%) and being active participants of this process (88.2%). However, in the perception of respondents, the list only partially (70.1%) meets the health demands. Of the interviewed professionals responsible for the dispensing of medicines, only 16.6% were pharmacists; even so, 47.8% reported to know the procedures to change the list. From the perspective of most of these professionals (70.9%), the list meets the health demands of the city. Among physicians, only 27.2% reported to know the procedures to change the list, but 76.5% would have some claim to change it. Most of them reported to base their claims in clinical experiences (80.0%). For 13.0% of them, the list meets the health demands. CONCLUSIONS: As this is the first national survey of characterization of the process of selection of medicines within primary health care, it brings unpublished data for the assessment of policies related to medicines in Brazil

Abstract. Background: Indigenous Australians experience a suicide rate over twice that of the general population. With nonfatal deliberate self-harm (DSH) being the single most important risk factor for suicide, characterizing the incidence and repetition of DSH in this population is essential. Aims: To investigate the incidence and repetition of DSH in three remote Indigenous communities in Far North Queensland, Australia. Method: DSH presentation data at a primary health-care center in each community were analyzed over a 6-year period from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2011. Results: A DSH presentation rate of 1,638 per 100,000 population was found within the communities. Rates were higher in age groups 15–24 and 25–34, varied between communities, and were not significantly different between genders; 60% of DSH repetitions occurred within 6 months of an earlier episode. Of the 227 DSH presentations, 32% involved hanging. Limitations: This study was based on a subset of a larger dataset not specifically designed for DSH data collection and assesses the subset of the communities that presented to the primary health-care centers. Conclusion: A dedicated DSH monitoring study is required to provide a better understanding of DSH in these communities and to inform early intervention strategies.
