The photocatalytic activity of eosin-sensitized TiO2 nanoparticles on photocatalytic degradation rate (PDR) of methyl orange under sunlight irradiation was studied. The influential factors on the degradation, such as eosin concentration, TiO2 dosage, sensitization time and sensitization temperature were also investigated. The results show that: The performance of TiO2 nanoparticles for PDR of methyl orange has been improved obviously for eosin sensitizing. The PDR of methyl orange reached 45.28% under the conditions of eosin concentration of 20mg/L, TiO2 dosage of 0.5000g/L, sensitization time of 24h and sensitization temperature of 20°C.

P25 loaded few layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets (P25@MoS2) are successfully synthesized through a facile one-step hydrothermal process. The bi-catalytic activities, i.e., photocatalytic and electrocatalytic activities, of the as-prepared nanomaterials have been investigated. For the as-prepared products, the photocatalytic performances were investigated by degrading simulated pollutant under sunlight irradiation, and the hydrogen evolution reaction evaluated the electrocatalytic performances. The results indicate that P25@MoS2 possesses excellent activities in both photocatalysis and electrocatalysis. The presence of MoS2 broadens the light absorption range of P25 and improves the separation and transformation efficiency of photogenerated carriers, thus improving its photocatalytic performance. The existence of P25 inhibits the aggregation of MoS2 to form more dispersed MoS2 nanosheets with only few layers increasing its active sites. Thereby, the electrocatalytic performance is heightened. The excellent multifunction makes the as-prepared P25@MoS2 a promising material in the fields of environment and energy.

The supported nano- Bi 2 WO 6– TiO 2/nickel foam photocatalyst was synthesized via spraying method with silica sol as a binder. The as-prepared photocatalyst with large surface and thermal stability exhibited enhanced photocatalytic performance for degradation of Rhodamine B ( RhB ) solution in sunlight irradiation. The results showed that the RhB solution could be degraded to 71.6% within 60min, exhibiting that improved photocatalytic activity increased by 77.6%, compared with that of pure Bi 2 WO 6– TiO 2 nanoparticles. Its high photocatalytic activity was due to the presence of nickel foam in the catalytic process, making the Bi 2 WO 6– TiO 2 highly dispersed and increasing the contact area of the photocatalysts with the organic pollutants. At the same time, a possible photocatalytic mechanism for the enhanced photocatalytic performance was investigated.

BiFeO3nanoparticles were prepared via a polyacrylamide gel route. BiFeO3-graphene nanocomposites were fabricated by mixing BiFeO3nanoparticles and graphene into absolute ethanol solution followed by thermal drying. The TEM observation demonstrates that the BiFeO3nanoparticles are well anchored onto graphene sheets. The photocatalytic activities of the as-prepared samples were evaluated by the degradation of methyl orange (MO) under simulated sunlight irradiation. Compared to bare BiFeO3nanoparticles, BiFeO3-graphene nanocomposites exhibit enhanced photocatalytic activity. The outstanding photocatalytic performance is mainly ascribed to the efficient transfer of photogenerated electrons from BiFeO3to graphene, thus leading to an increased availability of h+for the photocatalytic reaction. In addition, hydroxyl (·OH) radicals were detected by the photoluminescence technique using terephthalic acid as a probe molecule and are found to be produced on the irradiated BiFeO3and BiFeO3-graphene nanocomposites; in particular, an enhanced yield is observed for the latter.

Ti (OC4H9)4 was used as the Ti precursor and titanium dioxide (TiO2) was prepared by sol-gel method. During the preparation process, Fe3+ was doped and different surfactants, such as SDS, PEG, CTAB, were added to improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. The effect of the different type of surfactants on the structure of Fe-doped TiO2 was discussed. The photocatalysts were characterized by thermogravimetric thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The red shift of the absorption edge of the Fe-doped TiO2 prepared by using different surfactants was observed. Methyl orange (MO) solution was degraded under sunlight irradiation to evaluate the photocatalytic performance. The results indicated that the photocatalyst prepared with PEG addition had the highest activity and MO degradation ratio could reach 90% after 4 hours irradiation with the best photocatalyst.
