A photoacoustic model with one degree of freedom in the spatial coordinates for a plane sample is studied. The model proposed considers a sample with Beer's law absorption immersed in a fluid with different acoustical impedance. An analytical solution for this problem is given. It is shown that the generated PA wave is composed of a pressure peak followed by a reflected and inverted pulse with diminished magnitude. It is also remarked that the form described for the pulse has a periodicity related to the sample's width and attenuated by the reflection coefficient. It is noted that, due to this attenuation, information about the sample's width is more easily detected at the irradiation side. Border cases are taken for equal impedances and infinite sample width.

Direct position determination (DPD) of noncircular (NC) sources with multiple nested arrays (NA) is investigated in this paper. Noncircular sources are used to expand the dimension of the received signal matrix, so the number of identifiable information sources and the accuracy of direct position determination are improved. Furthermore, nested array increases spatial degree of freedom. In this paper, the high-dimensional search problem of noncircular sources is investigated. Therefore, we propose algorithm dimension reduction subspace data fusion (RD-SDF) to reduce complexity and increase positioning accuracy. Simulation results show that the proposed RD-SDF algorithm for multiple nested arrays with noncircular sources has improved positioning accuracy with higher spatial degree of freedom than SDF, Capon, and two-step algorithms with uniform linear array and circular sources (CS).

We firstly propose a simultaneous dense coding protocol with two-photon four-qubit cluster states in which two receivers can simultaneously get their respective classical information sent by a sender. Because each photon has two degrees of freedom, the protocol will achieve a high transmittance. The security of the simultaneous dense coding protocol has also been analyzed. Secondly, we investigate how to simultaneously teleport two different quantum states with polarization and path degree of freedom using cluster states to two receivers, respectively, and discuss its security. The preparation and transmission of two-photon four-qubit cluster states is less difficult than that of four-photon entangled states, and it has been experimentally generated with nearly perfect fidelity and high generation rate. Thus, our protocols are feasible with current quantum techniques.

Based on the quantum key distribution protocol [X. H. Li, F. G. Deng and H. Y. Zhou, Phys. Rev. A78 (2008) 022321], we proposed two efficient fault-tolerant quantum secret sharing schemes over two collective-noise channels, in which the sharers can establish a key with the sender only if all the sharers collaborate together. Noiseless subspaces are composed of two Bell states based on the hypothesis of collective noise and the spatial degree of freedom is introduced to insure the security. Although entangled states are used to encode the key bits, the sharers are only required to perform single-particle product operations or single-particle product measurement, making the schemes convenient with current technique. As there is no basis mismatch during the measurement, almost all of the samples can be used to share the key.
