We investigate the relationship of corporate social responsibility (CSR) (often assumed to reflect corporate voluntarism) and government (often assumed to reflect coercion). We distinguish two broad perspectives on the CSR and government relationship: the dichotomous (i.e., government and CSR are / should be independent of one another) and the related (i.e., government and CSR are / should be interconnected). Using typologies of CSR public policy and of CSR and the law, we present an integrated framework for corporate discretion for engagement with public policy for CSR. We make four related contributions. First, we explain the dichotomous and the related perspectives with reference to their various assumptions and analyses. Second, we demonstrate that public policy for CSR and corporate discretion coexist and interact. Specifically, we show, third, that public policy for CSR can inform and stimulate corporate discretion and, fourth, that corporations have discretion for CSR, particularly as to how corporations engage with such policy.

In recent years, consumers are increasingly interested in corporate social responsibility activities for the community. Many companies have begun to focus on CSR activities as it can contribute to improving the company's image in customer's perception. In Vietnam, although there are also some studies about CSR, the quantity is limited and there are certain limitations. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the relationship between CSR activities and customer loyalty through trust, customer company identify, and satisfaction. With the data being collected by survey questionnaires, the authors test the model and research hypotheses by using PLS-SEM techniques. The results show that CSR activities have a positive impact on customer loyalty through factors of trust, customer company identify, and customer satisfaction. This study helps business managers to develop effective policies and to have a new perspective on CSR activities as well as its values. In addition, the positive outlook of the customers on the business will bring many benefits, contributing to improving the brand value and reputation, enhancing competitive advantages towards sustainable development.

Both corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and donation-based crowdfunding have potential synergistic effects to generate funds, but fundraisers face competition and challenges to achieve their donation target. For instance, on the one hand, CSR initiatives may create the opportunity to generate funds through crowdfunding. On the other hand, crowdfunding can be used to micro fund many social activities in line with a company’s CSR goals. This study explores the relationship among successful donation fundraisers in crowdfunding activities that have the potential to become CSR activities. Specifically, the study examines the relationship of the value and size of funds raised in the beginning (first day) of fundraising effort with its target funds by the fundraiser and type of activities. Data from crowdfunding activities in Southeast Asian countries are used to examine the funds raised through donations by comparing trends, cultures, and characteristics of fundraisers using donation-based crowdfunding. The results of the study show that the value of funds raised in the beginning (first day) has a significant positive correlation with small targeted funds. Art, culture, and product-based activities of crowdfunding show the potential to have synergistic effects with CSR activities, and they tend to be correlated with successful project financing in Southeast Asia.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of corporate governance in the relationship of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and firm size to earnings management of manufacturing firms in Indonesia. Methodology: The study draws on data from 66 firms listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2014 to 2017, using a multiple regression model. The present study examines the influence of CSR on earnings management, and the impact of corporate governance on the relationship between CSR and firm size with earnings management. Main Findings: The finding showed that the effect of CSR on earnings management was significant and positive. The study also finds a statistically significant negative relationship between firm size and earnings management. The evidence also shows the role of corporate governance in the relationship of CSR and firm size to earnings management is significant and negative, it means that when the firm has good corporate governance, the firms that allocate CSR funds are relatively large, then it will tend not to practice earnings management, likewise large firms with good corporate governance will tend not to do earnings management. Research limitations/implications: The present study does not include all possible other variables that influence earnings management. Further research might increase the scope of research objects by extending the study period and need to pay attention to the firm's macro factors or economic risk factors outside of financial performance so as to provide a more comprehensive picture of the results of the study. Originality/value: The study focuses on the role of corporate governance issues such as the independence and activity of the boards and their influence on earnings management. The subject analyses the possible impact of CSR and firms size-related earnings management that has received much attention from academic research, which has largely focused on studying the publications of corporate governance in Indonesia context and can be contributes thoughts about the importance of corporate social responsibility activities that are reported as a basis for consideration incorporate policy-making to further enhance corporate awareness in the social environment, as well as the importance of corporate governance to minimize earnings management practices.

The objective of this research is to find out the moderating effect of corporate governance on the relationship of corporate social responsibility and product market competition to company value. The control variable in this study is company size. The sample of this study was 216 observations consisting of 54 manufacturing companies listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2016 until 2019. Moreover, the simple random sampling method is employed to grab them. To analyze the data, we use the multiple regression model with polling data. The findings of this research are product market competition negatively affects company value. In opposition, corporate social responsibility and  corporate governance positively affect company value. Meanwhile, corporate governance only moderates the effect of product market competition on the company value. The implication of this study is that good corporate governance practices can reduce the negative effects of PMC on company value.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to extend the corporate social responsibility (CSR) literature by examining the influence of a firm’s external CSR activities (efforts directed toward external stakeholders of the firm) and internal CSR activities (efforts directed toward employees) on employees’ organizational citizenship behaviors toward the environment (OCBE) via organizational pride. The authors also examine the moderating role of perceived organizational support (POS) between CSR and organizational pride. Design/methodology/approach A total of 324 questionnaires were collected from the hospitality industry of Pakistan. Findings The results of this research revealed that dimensions of CSR (external and internal) have a positive influence on organizational pride. Also, organizational pride is found as an underlying mediating mechanism between the relationship of CSR and OCBE. The results also indicated that a higher level of POS strengthens the relationship between CSR and organizational pride. Practical implications The findings are limited to only hospitality industry. Organizations can enhance employees’ sense of pride through CSR activities, which subsequently enhance employees OCBE. The findings also suggested that organizational pride contains intrinsic motivation that can help employees to enhance their OCBE. Originality/value This research suggests that organizational pride and POS are important factors which influence the relationship between CSR and OCBE. Further, it also empirically tests this model in a developing country context.

<em>Increasing the firm value is a key point for firm to attract investors. The firm value is very important because it becomes a benchmark of firm performance, the firm value in addition is influenced by profitability, investors also see the effect of the firm or form of firm Social Responsibility in the firm. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of profitability toward firm value, firm Social Responsibility moderate the relationship of profitability toward firm value and Good Corporate Governance moderate the relationship of profitability toward the firm value. The population in this study is a state-owned firm listed on the BEI in 2012-2016. The technique of sampling uses purposive sampling and based on criteria that have been done then the number of samples are obtained as many as 12 samples of state-owned enterprises. The experiment hypothesis of the research used multiple linear regression analysis techniques and Moderating Regression Analysis (MRA) with SPSS application. The results of this study indicate that profitability variables have a positive and significant effect on firm value, the disclosure of Corporate Social Responsibility does not moderate the relationship of return on assets to firm value, firm Social Responsibility strengthens the relationship of return on equity to firm value and Good firm Governance does not moderate profitability relation to firm value.</em>

ABSTRAKPengungkapan ICSR menjadi isu penting yang dapat mempengaruhi reputasi dan profitabilitas bank syariah. Banyak penelitian empiris terkait pengaruh ICSR terhadap profitabilitas menunjukan hasil yang beragam. Misspesifikasi model penelitian dan strategi ICSR dapat menjadi sebab hasil tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pengungkapan ICSR terhadap kinerja keuangan bank syariah dengan mempertimbankan reputasi sebagai variabel mediasi dan visibilitas sebagai variabel yang memoderasi pengaruh pengungkapan ICSR terhadap reputasi. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode PLS SEM digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis. 10 bank syariah di Indonesia pada periode 2014-2019 dijadikan sebagai sampel. Hasil estimasi menunjukan bahwa pengungkapan ICSR berpengaruh positif baik terhadap reputasi maupun profitabilitas. Visibilitas bank syariah juga terbukti memoderasi pengaruh pengungkapan ICSR terhadap reputasi bank. Meskipun demikian, Reputasi tidak terbukti memediasi pengaruh ICSR terhadap profitabilitas bank syariah. Implikasi dari hasil penelitian ini adala pentingnya pengungkapan ICSR bagi bank syariah karena dapat mempengaruhi reputasi dan profitabilitas perusahaan. Meskipun reputasi sendiri tidak terbukti memberikan pengaruh terhadap profitabilitas, reputasi dapat menjadi sumber daya strategis bagi bank. Selain itu, bagi bank syariah dengan visibilitas tinggi, pengungkapan ICSR menjadi sangat penting karena dampaknya yang lebih besar yang terbukti dapat memperkuat hubungan pengungkapan ICSR terhadap reputasi.Kata Kunci: Pengungkapan Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility, Variabel Mediasi, Variabel Moderasi, Profitabilitas, Bank Syariah. ABSTRACTICSR disclosure becomes an important issue that could effect reputation and profitability of Islamic Bank. a lot of empirical research on the effect of ICSR disclosure to profitability indicates an inconsistent result. Misspecification of the research model and the ICSR strategy could be the cause of it. The study aims to examine the impact of ICSR disclosure to profitability by considering reputation as a mediating variable and visibility as a variable that moderates the effect of ICSR disclosure on reputation. Quantitative approach with PLS SEM method is applied to confirm the hypothesis. 10 Indonesian Islamic Banks on 2014-2019 period are take as a sample. The estimation results show that ICSR disclosure has positive effect on reputation and profitability. It also indicates that Islamic bank visibility moderates the correlation between ICSR disclosure and reputation. However, Islamic bank reputation isn’t proven to mediate the correlation between ICSR disclosure and the profitability. The implication of the study result is that ICSR disclosure is important for the Islamic banks because it can affect its reputation and profitability. Although reputation itself is not proven to affect profitability, it can be a strategic resource for a bank. In addition, for high-visibility Islamic banks, disclosure of ICSR is crutial because of its greater impact that is proven to affect the relationship of ICSR disclosure to reputation.Keywords: Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure, Mediating Variable, Moderating Variable, Profitability, Islamic Bank.
