The northeastern part of the Lesser Caucasus encompasses the western part of the Republic of Azerbaijan and is characterized with a prevalence of unique flora and fauna and the availability of rich natural resources, particularly metals. It is known that the long-term exploitation of these resources by surface mining has led to technogenic contamination in the area. Exploitation of ore deposits is associated with the origination of huge hills of waste which cause heavy degradation of pastures, forests, and croplands. A significant part of widely degraded areas in the northeastern Lesser Caucasus is found in the territory of the Gedabek administrative district. This paper deals with the problem of restoration for contaminated lands formed due to raw material extraction on territory of valuable mountain forests and meadows over a long historical period as well as the use of collected technogenic wastes for different purposes (e.g. in land reclamation, construction of motorways etc.).

For estimation of quality of the environment in industrial regions, along with the methods of instrumental analysis, the methods of bioindication are rather relevant, foremost phytoindication. The influence of air pollutants during ontogenesis results in violation of normal vital functions of arboreal plants, the integral index of the vital state of which is the intensity of vegetative growth. Parameters, characterizing the plant growth, can be quite informative for the bioindication of level of the technogenic contamination of environment. This article presents the results of analysis of coke production emissions influence and transport on the morphometric indexes of annual vegetative shoots of Acer negundo L. It is shown that the influence of airpollutants leads to inhibition of the development of annual shoot. The reduction in the length of annual shoot (22-26%) and the number of its structural elements is accompanied by a decrease in mass (33-49%) and area (27-45%) of leaves, indicating xerophytization of shoots under the influence of emissions. The greatest changes are revealed in A. negundo trunk from plantations, experiencing, along with the influence of exhaust gas, the extremely adverse conditions of root nutrition. High sensitivity to technogenic emissions of such morphometric parameters of A. negundo as the length of annual shoots, the total weight and area of shoot leaves allows to use them in monitoring researches of vegetation condition and environmental pollution in the industrial regions.

The paper considers the problem of the influence of man-made load on the quality of water and bottom sediments of water bodies. The relationship of the state of the water body, the quality of the water in it and the level of contamination of bottom sediments is established. It has been shown that the rates and volumes of formation of bottom sediments and the level of contamination of their layers are different throughout the existence of a water body, which allows the use of bottom sediments as the main indicator of the ecological state of a water body, reflecting the level of anthropogenic impact on water ecosystems over time.

The study of general ecological peculiarities of road geosystems should be conducted on the basis of analysis and evaluation of geochemical showings. Among anthropogenic factors influencing the formation of ecological-geochemical peculiarities of road geosystems the means of transportation have a considerable negative impact as sources of contamination. That’s why the study of ecological-geochemical condition of road geosystems all enables us to estimate them and to determine the change dynamics. On the basis of the conducted researches of the Prut-Dniester watershed geosystems, the concentration coefficients are calculated, there being determined the showings of contamination intensivity of the natural component and the integral indicator of the ecological danger, there being given a general evaluation of the ecological-geochemical situation of the road geosystems of the investigated area. Key words: road geosystems, technogenic contamination, ecological-geochemical composition, ecological-geochemical situation, ecological estimation.

Microelements accumulation features are considered in micromammals’ organism taken from different degrees transformation biogeocoenosis of Dnipropetrovs’k region. Coefficients of accumulation are defined in different organs and tissues. Accumulation of heavy metals in the micromammals’ organism in different ecosystems, with a different technogenic contamination is heterogeneous. Organs which defined asconcentrators are spleen, heart and gonads. They have primary accumulation of heavy metals. Organs–deconcentrators are those which have active extraction of microelements (liver, kidneysand and intestine). Tendency to the decline of microelements accumulation intensity in animals from strongly transformed biogeocoenosis are stated. Formation of the special barriers of accumulation and excretion from organism by organs–deconcentrators testifies to making an adaptive mechanism at the level of physiology-biochemical processes and, first of all, the metabolism intensification.
