Up to now, smart lighting solutions have been researched and deployed in many cities around the world. This application has saved much energy due to the capability of optimizing the lighting control mechanism. In this paper, a framework used for smart lighting system is proposed under the consideration of many issues such as hardware devices, routing protocol, security, and scalability in layers. The performance evaluation is also investigated in several simulated scenarios and test-beds to show the advantages of the proposed framework.

The widely applying of LED lighting products promotes the development of smart lighting control system of LED. On the basis of analysis of the existing intelligent lighting control system technology, and with the development of computing and communications as well as cutting-edge technology, this paper puts forward a smart lighting control system of LED based on CPS. Combining practical LED lighting system and CPS theory, hierarchical structure of LED intelligent lighting control system is put forward. And on the basis of the designed system framework, this paper gives the LED intelligent control system based on ZigBee – Wi-Fi structure.

Artificial lighting systems are used in commercial greenhouses to ensure year-round yields. Current Light Emitting Diode (LED) technologies improved the system efficiency. Nevertheless, having artificial lighting systems extended for hectares with power densities over 50W/m2 causes energy and power demand of greenhouses to be really significant. The present paper introduces an innovative supervisory and predictive control strategy to optimize the energy performance of the artificial lights of greenhouses. The controller has been implemented in a multi-span plastic greenhouse located in North Italy. The proposed control strategy has been tested on a greenhouse of 1 hectare with a lighting system with a nominal power density of 50 Wm−2 requiring an overall power supply of 1 MW for a period of 80 days. The results have been compared with the data coming from another greenhouse of 1 hectare in the same conditions implementing a state-of-the-art strategy for artificial lighting control. Results outlines that potential 19.4% cost savings are achievable. Moreover, the algorithm can be used to transform the greenhouse in a viable source of energy flexibility for grid reliability.

Airfield lighting system is necessary visual aids to ensure the normal movements of aircraft at night or under low visibility conditions. A hybrid network monitoring system based on CAN bus and Ethernet was introduced in the paper according to the actuality of national airfield lighting control system. The AC chop voltage regulating technology was adopted to adjust light level in the Dimmer what is the core of the system, configuration software, hybrid network technology were used to realize the remote monitoring, overall design scheme, the choice of hardware and software platform, and the realization method of network communication were gave out in the paper. Experimental results show that system performance is superior, and be worth promoting.

Intelligent lighting control system is the symbol of green lighting in modern society, and it is also one of the indispensable core technologies in modern lighting. Adding many control switches to the lighting circuit to control the whole lighting system, or controlling the dimming function of the lamp through the control gauge technology is the traditional lighting mode.
