One isolate of Trichoderma viride, 12 of T. koningii, 5 of T. harzianum, 11 of T. pseudokoningii, and 9 Trichoderma spp. obtained from 15 soils by baiting with the sclerotia of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum were tested for pathogenicity and aggressiveness in vitro and in field soil against the latter. Five isolates of T. koningii, two of T. harzianum, three of T. pseudokoningii, and one of an unidentified species killed 62–100% of the sclerotia within 25 days when tested in vitro. Two isolates of T. koningii killed 100% of the sclerotia within 7 days. One isolate of T. koningii killed 100% of the sclerotia within 60 days under field conditions, when soil was infested with 104, 106, or 108conidia/g. The rate of decline was more rapid at inoculum level of 106 and 108conidia/g of soil than at 104.

With the increasion of the application years under-mulch drip irrigation, the field soil salinity environment change and its influence on the crops cause the concern. To choose the field close and continuously apply under-mulch drip irrigation about 2-14 and the cotton field 8 pieces in order to monitor soil salinity variation.The results initially show that :the soil of inner mulch with 0-20cm soil desalts,from40cm to 80cm accumulates salt; between the mulch bare land the soil salinity on the surface assembles,above the 60cm the soil salinity accumulates,below the 100cm the soil salinity is close to the inner mulch.The soil salinity content within four drip irrigation years is relatively high, is comparatively low over 6 drip irrigation years,the field salinity environment is relatively good.From 0 to 40cm the soil salinity content decreases with the drip irrigation years increases at the end of the growth process; from 60 to 100cm the accumulated salinity with the drip irrigation four years is highest.Suggest enlarging the salinity regulation dynamics within 6 drip irrigation years.

The roots of <i>Pennisetum typhoides</i> decomposing in normal field conditions, in sterilized soil inoculated with 15 rhizosphere fungi and in field soil maintained at various moisture levels produced vanillic acid. 3-4-dihydroxy benzoic acid and hydroxy cinnamic acid. These acids proved toxic to the rhizosphere fungi and seeds and seedlings of certain crop plants. Out of 15 rhizosphere fungal species inoculated to the soil only 6 could induce the release of toxins, moreover, the phytotoxic substances were detected from the washing of the roots collected only on the 30th day. The moisture range which showed liberation of toxins was 20-70 per cent. The time of liberation of acids in different set s varied. These were, however, frequently liberated from washings collected from roots decomposed for 15. 30 and 45 days.

We have reported a highly efficient dimethyl phthalate (DMP) degrading bacteria,Bacillus thuringiensis, which mineralize 99% of 400 mg L−1DMP. Various experimental variables and intermediates were investigated with proposed biodegradation pathway.

Transferability of lysimeter data to the field was investigated using the leaching and degradation behavior of14C-labeled metamitron [4-amino-3-methyl-6-phenyl-2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one] and methabenzthiazuron [1,3-dimethyl-3-(2-benzthiazolyl)-urea]. Forty-one to 53 days after application about 4% of the applied metamitron was detected in the upper 20 cm of the field soil either as active ingredient or the major metabolite desamino metamitron, whereas about 8% was found in the lysimeter soil. Forty percent and 33% of the applied methabenzthiazuron were identified in the 0- to 10-cm soil layer in the field and lysimeter 127 to 133 days after application, respectively. It is demonstrated that lysimeter experiments using14C-labeled compounds simulate actual field conditions and give further information about the amount of total14C-residues in the soil and percolate.
