Using a new information system is a journey that end-users follow, sometimes by choice and at other times by obligation. This journey changes their attitudes and behavior as they explore the system and discover its workings. In this chapter we map such a journey using Morgan’s (1986, 1997) metaphors by tracking a change in end–user attitudes and behavior. We use a longitudinal case study approach to follow this journey, report the direction and any shifts in end-users’ conceptual position. Our results show that within a space of eighteen months the organization’s overall metaphorical stance shifted from the organism to the machine metaphor. This reflects the end-user’s initial optimism for the change to enable ease of working to that of efficiency dictated by the senior management towards the end. This shift was due to organizational conditional factors, such as the ISD methodology.

Scholars have emphasized the decline of party membership and a decrease in party activism. Yet these general patterns hide a diversity of party members with distinct profiles, attitudes and behavior. Using Portugal as a case study, this article examines the heterogeneity of party members based on the different motivations for joining the party and distinct levels of involvement. The findings support previous typologies that distinguished between more activist versus more passive party members. The results also suggest that different party types present a distinct proportion of the two types of affiliates. In addition, these two types of members display distinct levels of ideological congruence with the party.

AbstractThe flood disaster that struck the Province of South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi) at the end of January 2019, was the worst natural disaster in the past 20 (twenty) years. Of the 24 (twenty four) districts and cities in South Sulawesi, there are 6 (six) districts and cities experiencing very poor conditions, namely the Regencies of Jeneponto, Maros, Gowa, Takalar, Barru and Makassar. As a result of this disaster, tens of thousands of families lost their homes, property was destroyed, social facilities such as schools and houses of worship were also severely damaged and some were destroyed. Even more pathetic, because more than a hundred people died. This results from an imbalance of ecosystems causing serious problems. Community understanding of the need to maintain ecosystem balance is still very low coupled with the socioeconomic situation which makes the community more pragmatic. The problem is, how do you increase the awareness of the community in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem? And how to foster disaster-conscious attitudes and behavior for the community, especially in disaster-prone areas? Therefore, the writing of this article aims to comprehensively examine people's attitudes related to maintaining ecosystem balance and fostering disaster-conscious behavior in the community, especially in disaster-prone areas as an alternative to disaster risk management. The method used is qualitative with the type of case study studies. The selection of informants is done purposively and the data processed are primary and secondary. From the results of this study it was found, the increasingly severe environmental damage became the main trigger of natural disasters that occurred in South Sulawesi at the end of January 2019. This environmental damage, is dominant because of the very exploitative behavior of the community towards the environment. For example, what happened in Gowa district, the big floods that occurred because around the Jeneberang River and Bili-Bili Dam areas - sand mining activities have been going on for decades. Likewise, the Mount Bawakaraeng area, which used to function as a buffer against flooding, has long been deforested as a result of causing landslides whenever there is heavy rain. This condition also occurs in the districts of Jeneponto, Maros and others - these areas are vulnerable to heavy rainfall. To overcome this serious problem, one alternative is to form community groups that are aware of disasters. This strategy of forming disaster awareness groups, by combining approaches from above (government) and from below (the community)   Musibah banjir yang melanda Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan (Sulsel) di akhir Januari 2019, merupakan bencana alam yang terparah selama kurun waktu 20 (dua puluh) tahun terakhir ini.

Using a mixed method approach, this case study investigates effects on the participating students (N=25) of an undergraduate honors course in the Netherlands, aimed at global justice citizenship. Knowledge about effects of global citizenship courses is still limited. The Ethical Sensitivity Scale Questionnaire and the Global Citizenship Scale were used in a pre- and posttest design to measure possible development in the moral and civic domain among the participants of the course. In the qualitative part, deductive content analyses of students’ work and students’ written reflection on the course, utilizing the theory-based curriculum guidelines Global Justice Citizenship Education, were performed. In addition, a follow-up blog and interview were analyzed to learn students’ perception on the effects of the course after half a year. Quantitative results show increased ethical sensitivity as well as global civic engagement and global competence among the participants. Qualitative results point in the same direction and provide deeper insights in the content of students’ learning and the perceived impact of the course on their attitudes and behavior. Results are discussed in relation to theory on justice-oriented global citizenship and honors pedagogies.

The research used qualitative methods with a descriptive type to describe a case study that happened in Sailong Village. Data sampling used a purposive sampling technique, while data collection included in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. Based on the results of this study, labeling the status of young widows that occurs is not necessarily interpreted as having a negative (bad) connotation. A bad “label” does not indicate that the woman cannot prove that the label is wrong and is only a stereotype, stigma, and prejudice that does not apply to every individual. Therefore, the way to overcome it is by maintaining attitudes and behavior to always be good in the broader community. Furthermore, sometimes the community defines the status of widows in general based on what they saw or encountered based on experience. When seeing or meeting a widow who is not good, the definition becomes bad.

Radicalism in Indonesia has recently tended to increase. Ironically, this is often associated with the failure of religious education to form moderate attitudes and behavior. This research will discuss about religious moderation education as a shield for radicalism in educational institutions. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with the type of case study research at SMA Selamat Pagi Indonesia Batu. The results showed that the implementation of religious moderation education in SMA SPI Batu was able to form moderate attitudes and behavior of students so that radicalism could be prevented from growing and developing in the institution. Meanwhile, the process of religious moderation education in these institutions is carried out through an integrated system between schools, dormitories, and Kampung Kids (KD).Keywords: Education, Religious Moderation, Shield, Radicalism
