Aim. To characterize the microbiological picture of stomatitis in intact rats before and after the treatment with highly active cultured lactobacilli and to evaluate the effectiveness of this treatment in experiments on white rats. Methods. Experiments were carried out on 32 mongrel female white rats weighing 230 g. Smears were taken from the gum surface of control and experimental rats at all stages of the experiment to characterize the oral cavity microbiocenosis. Results. After treatment of the oral cavity with cultured Staphylococcus aureus , the occurrence and quantity of opportunistic microorganisms significantly decreased. The treatment of stomatitis in rats with cultured lactobacillus ( Lactobacillus 11 zv., Lactobacillus 2 p.r., Lactobacillus 24 d.st. and their combination) led to a decrease in S. aureus prevalence up to its extinction and to normalization of the quantitative composition of opportunistic microbiota. Conclusions. The study showed the effieacy of highly active lactobacillus strains individually or their combinations in the treatment of oral diseases, in particular, bacterial stomatitis.

The authors analyse 17 cases of electric shock treatment performed in the over 70th years old patients. They observe the effectiveness on affective status, the cognitive performance and the patient's autonomy. These items and the treatment's tolerance are measured before and after the treatment by a standardized geriatric assessment. The standardized geriatric assessment as an objective measure permit to put the target's indications and to monitorize the maintain of the benefits with electric shock treatment.

Background Haloperidol is categorized as the first class antipsychotic drug. Long-term use of haloperidol may convey to increased Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) that will yield oxidative damage which further leads to cell death. Several studies had identified the effects of cinnamon extract on cell death. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmanii) on the protection of neuronal cell death in haloperidol-induced male Wistar white rats. Methods This study was experimental with pre and post-test design. Thirty male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups, induced with haloperidol and followed by treatment. Caspase-3 and dopamine were assayed by ELISA sandwich method using ELISA kit. Mean difference of caspase expression and dopamine levels before and after induction were shown (p<0.05). Results There were mean differences of caspase-3 expression level in the positive control group, cinnamon extract of 100 and 200mg/kgBW before and after treatment (p<0.05). Whereas for dopamine levels, there were mean differences in positive control group, cinnamon extract of 50, 100 and 200mg/kgBW before and after treatment (p<0.05). With Post Hoc test, it was found that there were no mean differences of caspase-3 expression level between positive group with cinnamon extract group of 100 and 200mg/kgBW (p>0,05) and there were also no mean differences of positive group dopamine level with group of cinnamon extract of 100 and 200mg/kgBW (p>0.05). Conclussion Cinnamomum burmanii extract at dose of 100 and 200mg/kgBW were effective in the protection against neuronal cell death in haloperidol induced male Wistar white rats.

It is difficult to detect and judge a weak electric shock signals in the leakage current accurate in the low-voltage power grid .A novel chaotic detection of the electric shock current and Lyapunov exponent is introduced in this paper .Electric shock current component is extracted according to the characteristics that chaotic system’s bifurcation action from chaotic state is sensitive to the weak signals and immune to noise .The largest Lyapunov exponent is proposed as the judgment criterion of phase transition of chaotic system. It can automatically recognize the critical state before and after electric shock.

White rats were inoculated with 10 6 trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma lewisi, simultaneously or two days before and after inoculation with 10 5 oocysts of T. gondií. A greater number of cysts was found in the brain of the animals having concomitant inoculations, as compared with rats inoculated with either one of the two parasites. An apparent immunosuppressive effec! is Iikely. Since both orgartisms can be found in rats, ít is possible that infections with T. lewisi, could make this rodent another intermediate host for Toxoplasma infections

The article presents the results of studying the radio protective properties of alfalfa extract (dietary supplement "Erakond"). A decrease in the iron content in macrophages of the red pulp of the spleen was found experimentally using models of experimental radiation pathology induced by ɣ-irradiation of white rats in a single dose of 4 Gy at a dose rate of 1.7 Gy/min. The mechanisms of pathological processes in acute radiation pathology, leading to a decrease in the content of endogenous iron at the systemic, organ, cellular and subcellular levels, have been disclosed. Violation of the processes of enteral absorption of minerals as a result of pronounced destructive-inflammatory processes in the intestinal wall, damage to the hematopoiesis-inducing environment in the red bone marrow, inhibition of cytokine synthesis (IL-1, IL-3, IL-6, IL-7) and granulocytic macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) reduce the level of deposited iron in acute radiation pathology. In rats treated with 40 % "Erakond" aqueous extract before and after irradiation, there is a relatively high level of deposited iron in the spleen tissues in comparison with animals of the comparison group, which were on a general food ration.
