<p class="AMSmaintext"><span lang="EN-US">The new method for hardening ready-made steels, hard alloys and diamond tools is developed: low-temperature process for producing thin-film solid lubricant coatings by hydro chemical treatment in specially prepared aqueous media of nanosized hard refractory compounds and subsequent tempering. The main advantages of the method over known processes are presented. The principles for dispersion of refractory materials are formulated. The structure and properties of the obtained coatings are examined. <br /></span></p>

In this paper provides an overview of scientific and technical literature and developments in the field of tungsten-free hard alloys or cermet as promising materials of a new generation metalworking tools. Methods of obtaining sintered hard alloys, their structure and basic operational properties are considered The main directions of improving the properties of hard alloys are given. The results of experimental work on the production of cermet by high-speed quenching of the melt are presented. The obtained fast-quenched materials of the Fe–TiC–TiB2 system demonstrate physical and mechanical properties at the level of sintered hard alloys, but at the same time it contain 2–3 times less of the carbide phase.

The tribological characteristics of the Cr3С2–Ti system hard alloys produced by the explosive compaction of powders containing 20, 30, 40, and 50 vol. % of the titanium binder are investigated. The general approach to selecting the optimal structure and properties of wear-resistant hard alloys for manufacturing the slider bearing parts working in conjunction with silicified graphite under water lubrication conditions is formulated. It is shown that, to attain the highest antifriction characteristics and minimal wear of the friction unit, the alloy should have the maximally possible hardness with the minimally admissible specific volume of a carbide phase in the material structure. It is established that such alloys have higher antifriction characteristics and wear resistance than silicified graphite and the Cr3C2–20% Ni-type materials produced by conventional methods.
