The growth in housing activities in recent years reflects the optimistic state of the housing finance market in the country. With a growing number of players, the mortgage (housing) finance sector is becoming market driven. The market has witnessed change in lending practices in certain segments to accommodate customer needs. There seems to be high intensity of competition among different players of the housing finance sector. The findings of the study reveal that the business of housing finance is highly concentrated in nature and revolves around a few players only. The top players are HDFC Limited, National Housing Bank, SBI, ICICI and LICHFL. Amongst these three HFIs, HDFC Limited is taking the lead. Talking about the value of HH index with respect to the level of concentration, the trend has continued to remain the same over several years. The performance of these institutions has been influenced by more than just customer demand. Stricter NPA norms, softening interest rates, and stiff competition in mobilizing low-cost deposits have all affected the supply-side factors, which in turn has influenced the performance of these institutions in terms of volume and competitiveness.

Uniform illumination is a key requirement in different research fields. However, this requirement is often difficult to achieve when high intensity is required at the same time. Recent advancements in LED lamps allow nowadays for compact and economical solutions. In this work we present a suitable solution for various laboratory purposes requiring stable, uniform and high intensity illumination. The system is composed of four identical high power white LED arrays of 30 mm diameter each, placed on a supporting and cooling structure having a minimum volume of 26 cm x 26 cm x 8 cm. A numerical model has been developed, based on a ray tracing software, in order to simulate the performances. These have then been experimentally validated with measurements of the power density map, carried out with a 1% uncertainty pyranometer. Data show that the built system is very stable over time and provides an illumination uniformity higher than 98%, on a surface of 50 mm radius, which reduces to 95% on a surface of 75 mm radius. The power density can be adjusted in the 390-1360 W m-2 range, not affecting uniformity.

A method is proposed for estimating the acoustic power output of ultrasound transducers using a two-port model with electrical impedance measurements made in three different propagation media. When evaluated for two high-intensity focused ultrasound transducers at centre frequencies between 0.50 and 3.19 MHz, the resulting power estimates exceeded acoustic estimates by 4.5–21.8%. The method was shown to be valid for drive levels producing up to 20 MPa in water and should therefore be appropriate for many HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) applications, with the primary advantage of employing relatively low-cost, non-specialist materials and instrumentation.
