The reaction between substituted 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, active methylene compounds iminochromene derivatives. Structures of the sewere established upon the basis of IR,1HNMR,13CNMR,and MASS data. Invitro, antioxidants activities oft hese compounds against superoxide anion radical, nitric oxide radical, DPPH radical and hydrogen peroxide were evaluated and compared with standard natural antioxidants ascorbicacid.

Antioxidant compounds play a significant role in preventing and scavenging free-radicals by reducing oxidative stress and providing protection to humans against degenerative diseases and infections. Obviously, antioxidant molecules of plant origin are pivotal to combat the oxidative harm in cells. Present work intended to evaluate the antioxidant capacity of the fruits of Spondias pinnata. Methanol extracts of the fruits at two stages of maturity were prepared and investigated by various antioxidants analyses such as total antioxidant activity, reducing power and radical scavenging assays (DPPH, nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide). Its total phenol, flavonoid and tannin contents were also determined. Spondias pinnata fruit extracts exhibited effective antioxidant activity and its IC50 values of the unripe fruits were 65, 66, 72.23, 83.25, 66.75 ?g/ml and ripe fruits were 124.24, 92.50, 97.66, 144.10, 72.25 ?g/ml, for total antioxidant activity, reducing power, DPPH radical scavenging, nitric oxide radical scavenging and hydrogen peroxide scavenging assays respectively. The extracts, especially unripe fruit extract had good amounts of total phenolic and flavonoid contents which might contribute the antioxidant activities considerably. It is evident from the study that the fruits of S. pinnata possessed potent antioxidant activity and it can be considered as a good dietary choice among the underutilized fruits as well as common fruits. Therefore, wild mango may be a good choice of antioxidants of plant origin for dietary and pharmaceutical uses.

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most common infectious diseases in the world.Mycobacterium tuberculosisinfection leads to pulmonary active disease in approximately 5–10% of exposed individuals. Both bacteria- and host-related characteristics influence latent infection and disease. Host genetic predisposition to develop TB may involve multiple genes and their polymorphisms. It was reported previously that interferon gamma (IFN-γ) and nitric oxide synthase 2 (NOS2) are expressed on alveolar macrophages from TB patients and are responsible for bacilli control; thus, we aimed this study at genotyping single nucleotide polymorphismsIFNG+874T/ASNP andNOS2A-954G/CSNP to estimate their role on TB susceptibility and determine whether these polymorphisms influence serum nitrite andNOx-production. This case-control study enrolled 172 TB patients and 179 healthy controls. Neither polymorphism was associated with susceptibility to TB.NOS2A-954G/CSNP was not associated with serum levels of nitrite andNOx-. These results indicate that variants ofIFNG+874T/ASNP andNOS2A-954G/CSNP do not influence TB susceptibility or the secretion of nitric oxide radicals in the study population.

Breviscapine is a commercially produced plant extract from the Chinese herb Erigeron breviscapus. (Vant.) Hand.-Mazz., which contains 2 main flavonoids. It is widely used in clinic to treat ischemic diseases in which free radicals are considered to be the main causal factor. Our study is aimed to examine the antioxidant activity of this extract. The following assays were employed: 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging, superoxide anion radical scavenging, nitric oxide radical scavenging, total anti-oxidative capacity, and antilipid peroxidation assays. Breviscapine was demonstrated to show an effective activity on scavenging DPPH, superoxide anion radicals and nitric oxide. The total antioxidative capacity of breviscapine (7.8 μg/ml to 250 μg/ml) was 1.22 to 6.74 FRAP value (× 10-5mmol). At the highest concentration of breviscapine, the inhibition extent of lipid peroxidation induced by Fe2+in rat liver homogenates was 38.5%. Because of the antioxidant activity, the present study is therefore designed to investigate the therapeutic potential of breviscapine for treatment of ischemic diseases.
