A novel strategy toward one-pot hydrothermal synthesis of copper sulfide nanoplates-decorated reduced graphene oxide (RGO–CuS) composites was developed. CuS nanoplates were successfully loaded onto the surface of RGO in the hydrothermal procedure, which was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy, UV-Vis–NIR and Raman spectroscopy. The as-synthesized RGO–CuS composites showed pronounced enhanced optical absorbance in near infrared (NR) region and higher photothermal conversion efficiency than noncomposite GO and CuS nanoplates. The RGO–CuS materials were used in photothermal ablation of cancer cells with a 980[Formula: see text]nm laser irradiation and showed improved performance than CuS nanoplates.

<div>Covalent organic frameworks have emerged as a powerful synthetic platform for installing and interconverting dedicated molecular functions on a crystalline polymeric backbone with atomic precision. Here, we present a novel strategy to directly access amine-linked covalent organic frameworks, which serve as a scaffold enabling pore-wall modification and linkage-interconversion by new synthetic methods based on Leuckart-Wallach reduction with formic acid and ammonium formate. Frameworks connected entirely by secondary amine linkages, mixed amine/imine bonds, and partially formylated amine linkages are obtained in a single step from imine-linked frameworks, or directly from corresponding linkers in a one-pot crystallisation-reduction approach. The new, 2D amine-linked covalent organic frameworks, rPI-3-COF, rTTI-COF, and rPy1P-COF, are obtained with high crystallinity and large surface areas. Secondary amines, installed as reactive-sites on the pore wall, enable further post-synthetic functionalisation to access tailored covalent organic frameworks, with increased hydrolytic stability, as potential heterogeneous catalysts.</div>

Carrier-free immobilization is a key process to develop efficient biocatalysts able to catalyze the cell wall degradation in microalgae where the traditional solid supports cannot penetrate. Thus, the insolubilization of commercial Celluclast®, Alcalase®, and Viscozyme® enzymes by carrier-free immobilization and their application in microalgae pretreatment was investigated. In this study, different precipitants at different ratios (ethanol, acetone, and polyethylene glycol 4000) were tested in the first part of the method, to establish the precipitation conditions. The screening of the best precipitant is needed as it depends on the nature of the enzyme. The best results were studied in terms of immobilization yield, thermal stability, and residual activity and were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. Moreover, a novel strategy was intended including the three enzymes (combi-CLEAs) to catalyze the enzymatic degradation of Nannochloropsis gaditana microalgal cell wall in one pot. The carrier-free immobilized derivatives were 10 times more stable compared to soluble enzymes under the same. At the best conditions showed its usefulness in the pretreatment of microalgae combined with ultrasounds, facilitating the cell disruption and lipid recovery. The results obtained suggested the powerful application of these robust biocatalysts with great catalytic properties on novel and sustainable biomass such as microalgae to achieve cost-effective and green process to extract valuable bioactive compounds.

Abstract A synthetic novel strategy involving a pseudo three component reaction to obtain 1,6-dihydroazaazulenes derivates via cyclization of pyrrolyl-enones by a novel pseudo three-component reaction was developed. This reaction is carried out under mild conditions from simple starting materials and catalyzed with ionic liquid. Notably, 3 new C-C bonds are formed in the one-pot process. The target molecules are of interest in medicinal chemistry as they contain a privileged scaffold and are considered indole homologues.
