The official, parish-identified, Catholic population in the United States over the past forty years (1980 to 2019) has grown 40 percent, from about 48 million to over 67 million. Such a hearty rate of growth might lead one to assume that the Catholic population is increasing across all parts of the country. This growth, however, has been anything but uniform. From 1980 to the present, the Catholic population in some US Census regions—mostly in the South and in the West of the country—has experienced a boom, while in others—mostly in the Northeast and Midwest—it has experienced a bust. In this article, the growth or decline in the number of Catholics in each of the four US Census regions is explored, using data from the 2020 Faith Communities Today survey as well as data submitted by Catholic dioceses. These analyses give a more nuanced portrait of the Catholic Church in the United States, shedding light on both the challenges and opportunities the US Catholic Church is experiencing in 2021.

The career of John Carmel Heenan (1905–1975) tends to be remembered for the period of his tenure as Archbishop of Westminster. This was a difficult time for Heenan, who having lived and ministered in an unchanging Church for over sixty years, took up the appointment in September 1963, at a time of rapid and unprecedented change in the Catholic Church in England and Wales following Vatican II. Contemporary commentators naturally gravitated to to the problems he faced in Westminster. Inevitably, in reviews rather than full-scale biographies, historians have concentrated on this later phase of his life. This paper examines one of Heenan's earlier achievements, that of his role of Superior of the Catholic Missionary Society from 1947 to 1951, and shows how his talents were placed at the disposal of the post-war Catholic community in an attempt to recover lapsed Catholics and attract converts to the faith.

The book is divided into 4 chapters followed by an afterword, appendix and notes; the foreword is written by Bishop Robert Barron; sources gotten from books, the internet, and the Catholic Church. Notably, the whole process, from pitch to perfect, happened over the space of twelve days: Monday, March 30 to Friday, April 10, 2020. The book contains a collection of “structured thoughts” about the COVID-19 crisis and its aftermath, and their likely impacts upon the Church’s pastoral and evangelistic mission, focusing on the Catholic Church in the US and UK. Chapter 2 has a table on annual average percentage change in typical Sunday mass attendance in England and Wales, and 22 US (arch)dioceses.

Ochrona i prewencja małoletnich jako posługa Kościoła. Promocja kultury ochrony i prewencji małoletnich oraz zagrożonej młodzieży i dorosłych w Kościele katolickim w Anglii i Walii Artykuł przedstawia oddziaływania Kościoła katolickiego w Anglii i Walii w dziedzinie promowania kultury ochrony (safeguarding) przed przestępstwami wobec małoletnich, młodzieży i dorosłych znajdujących się w sytuacji zachowań ryzykownych. Promowanie kultury prewencji wyraża się w dojrzałej refleksji i działaniu zarówno instytucji i organizacji powołanych w Kościele do ochrony i zapobiegania przestępstwom wobec małoletnich, jak i formacji oraz edukacji podmiotów oddziaływania pastoralnego w Kościele: członków hierarchii Kościoła, księży i osób zakonnych, religijnych liderów i osób świeckich, a także całego Ludu Bożego. Artykuł prezentuje rozwój definicji oraz szerokie rozumienie kontekstu ochrony małoletnich na przestrzeni ostatnich lat. Przedstawia kontekst prawny i kanoniczny, elementy nauczania i praktykę Kościoła. Podejmuje elementy teologii i pedagogiki prewencji oraz ochrony małoletnich. Wskazuje na kluczowy wymiar pracy Kościoła w Anglii i Walii w dziedzinie ochrony i prewencji, zasadę One Church (Jeden Kościół – Kościół Razem), zasadę jedności oddziaływania Kościoła jako instytucji. W aspekcie badawczym pracy omawia formy i sposoby promowania kultury ochrony i prewencji w życiu oraz posłudze Kościoła, którego nadrzędnym celem jest miłość i troska pasterska o „najmniejszych”.
