We herein reported the synthesis and pH sensing property of a novel gallium corrole derivatives based on 8-hydroxyquinoline. Ga-corrole derivative showed good fluorescent response upon changing the pH values in the wide region of pH 1 to 12.

Polymer grafting from graphitic carbon materials has been explored for several decades. Currently existing methods mostly employ harsh chemical treatment to generate defect site in graphitic carbon plane, which are used as active site for polymerization of precursors. Unfortunately, the treatment cause serious degradation of chemical structure and material properties. Here, we present a straightforward route for growth of polyaniline chain from nitrogen (N)-sites of carbon nanotubes. N site in the CNT wall initiates the polymerization of aniline monomer, which generates seamless hybrids composed of polyaniline directly grafted onto the CNT walls. The synthesized hybrids show excellent synergistic electrochemical performance, and are employed for electrodes of pseudo-capacitor. This approach offers an efficient way to obtain hybrid system consisting of conducting polymers directly grafted from graphitic dopant sites.

Abstract A new benzothiazole-based chemosensor BTN (1-((Z)-(((E)-3-methylbenzo[d]thiazol-2(3H)-ylidene)hydrazono)methyl)naphthalen-2-ol) was synthesized for the detection of Cu2+. BTN could detect Cu2+ with “off-on” fluorescent response from colorless to yellow irrespective of presence of other cations. Limit of detection for Cu2+ was determined to be 3.3 µM. Binding ratio of BTN and Cu2+ turned out to be a 1:1 with the analysis of Job plot and ESI-MS. Sensing feature of Cu2+ by BTN was explained with theoretical calculations, which might be owing to internal charge transfer and chelation-enhanced fluorescence processes.

This research presents a new perspective on optical biosensors based on zinc oxide nanoparticles. The widely known and successfully applied nanostructured material is modified by the dopant - the green phosphor Terbium, which embedded in the structure of zinc oxide and makes a significant contribution to the fluorescent response of the material in both the UV and visible spectral regions. The effect of various dopant concentrations on the fluorescence of nanostructures was studied; the nanostructures were examined by SEM.
