Bisnoriridodial and cis-bisnoriridolactone have been synthesized. The 1,5-dialdehyde-δ-lactone rearrangement of the former compound is compared with that of iridodial. The insecticidal activity of the naturally occurring iridolactones, and of related synthetic compounds, is reported.
