Water-soluble phthalocyaninato zirconium(IV) and hafnium(IV) complexes have been synthesized for the first time. An increased solubility in comparison to PcZrCl 2 and PcHfCl 2 was caused by the introduction of gallic, 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic (chromotropic), and 5-sulfosalicylic acids in the axial position. The new compounds were characterized by 1 H NMR, IR, UV-vis and elemental analysis.

Some novel organic compounds of the type: cis, cis-1,3,5-tris(X)cyclohexane, where X= –CONH(CH2)2NH2, –CONH(CH2)3NH2, –CONH(CH2)2NCH –C6H4OH, CONH(CH2)3NCHC6H4OH, which are expected to function as potential polydentate chelators have been synthesised from 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid through multi-steps reactions. 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid was reduced to cis, cis-1,3,5-tris(ethylcarboxylate)cyclohexane, which on reaction with excess of 1,2-diaminoethane and 1,2-diaminopropane afforded two new compounds. Condensation of the obtained derivatives with three equivalents of salicylaldehyde resulted the formation of two new Schiff base compounds. All the compounds were characterised by a combination of elemental analysis, mass, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy.

The synthesis of tetrasubstituted zinc phthalocyanines bearing quinolinoxy groups are reported for the first time. The new compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, MS and electronic spectroscopy. The photophysical properties, such as the electronic absorption spectra and fluorescence spectra, have also been investigated and discussed together with the influence of substituent position and organic solvents on these properties. The introduction of quinolinoxy group to the Pc ring was found to affect these photophysical properties to some extent.

Three new substituted manganese phthalocyanines (PcMns), wich are water-soluble, have been synthesized with good yields (70–80%) and high purity. Pyridiniummethyl- and cholinylsubstituted phthalocyanines have been obtained from the chloromethylsubstituted PcMns , while octacarboxysubstituted complex has been synthesized from metal-free octacarboxyphthalocyanine tetraanhydride. Compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and mass, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy. In general, coordination chemistry of the compounds studied is similar to this one of liposoluble PcMns but some new findings have been obtained. Three coordination forms — PcMn ( II ), PcMn ( III ) X ( X = Cl -, OAc -, …) and [ LPcMn ( III )]2 O ( L = Py , Et 3 N , …) have been obtained for all the new compounds. The equilibrium between three electronic isomers — Pc+• Mn ( I ) × L , PcMn ( II ) × nL , (n = 1, 2) and Pc-• Mn ( III ) × 2 L has been observed in PcMn aqueous solutions upon the addition of organic bases L ( Py , Et 3 N , …).

The reaction of CpTi(CO)2 (1), Cp2TiCl (2), and Cp2TiCl2 (3) (Cp = η5-C5H5) with purine (PuH) and adenine (AdH) in organic solvents is described. The compound 1 reacts with both molecules in an oxidative fashion giving Cp2Ti(C5H3N4)(C5H4N4) (4) and (Cp2Ti)2(C5H3N5) (5) with concomitant liberation of molecular carbon monoxide and hydrogen (4:1) following a first order rate law in metal complex. The compound 2 forms an adduct compound Cp2TiCl(C5H4N4) (6) with PuH. Monosubstituted derivatives Cp2TiCl(C5H3N4) (7) and Cp2TiCl(C5H4N5) (8) are formed from the reaction of the deprotonated bases with 3. In addition to the usual elemental analysis, the characteristic ir, 1H nmr, epr, and ms results are given for the new compounds.

Magnesium porphyrazinate substituted with eight (1-naphthyl) groups on the peripheral positions has been synthesized by cyclotetramerization of 3,4-(1-naphthyl)pyrroline-2,5-diimine, 4-(1-naphthyl)pyrroline-2,5-diimine in the presence of magnesium butanolate. Its demetalation by treatment with trifluoroacetic acid, resulted in a partially oxidized product, namely, octakis(1-naphthyl)-2-seco-porphyrazine-2,3-dione. Further reaction of this product with copper(II) acetate, zinc(II) acetate and cobalt(II) acetate led to the metallo derivatives, [octakis(1-naphthyl)-2-seco-2,3-dioxoporphyrazinato]M(II) ( M = Cu , Zn or Co ). These new compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, together with FT-IR, 1 H NMR, UV-vis and mass spectral data.

In this study, a novel series of 6-oxopyridazinyl benzazoles and 3, 6-dioxopyridazinyl benzazoles were prepared from the starting compounds, 2-hydrazinobenzimidazole, 2-hydrazinobenzothiazole and 2-hydrazinobenzoxazole by reaction with butyric acid derivatives and cyclic anhydrides respectively. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed by elemental analysis as well as 1H NMR, IR and MS data. Some of the newly prepared compounds were subjected to evaluation for their anti-inflammatory activity using carrageenan induced paw edema at dose 100 mg kg−1 using indomethacin as a reference standard and were found to be bioactive.

This study explored the potential use of new silver abietate obtained from abietic acid as an antibacterial agent for textile applications. Synthesis, structure, and antibacterial studies of silver abietate compound are reported. Silver complex was obtained reacting abietic acid with silver. The new compounds were characterized by1H NMR,13C NMR, DEPT, IR, UV, and ESI-MS techniques which support the proposed structures. The new Ag abietate complex has no environmental hazard, its antibacterial activities were evaluated after being applied to cotton fabric by padding process according to the JIS L 1902-2008 agar diffusion test method and against three Gram-negative and three Gram-positive bacteria, respectively. Stability of antibacterial effect after repeated washings (3, 5, 10, and 20) was also tested which indicated that the synthesized silver abietate compound could be used as a new antibacterial agent in textile industry. In this way, the compound has been synthesized the first time in the literature and the applications have been investigated.

The reaction of 1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-6-pyridazinone-3-carboxylic acid hydrazides (1) and 1,6-dihydro-6-pyridazinone-3-carboxylic acid hydrazides (2) with four kind of substituted 3-formyl chromones (3a-3d) and five kind of 1-phenyl-3-aryl-4-formylpyrazoles (3e-3i) afforded the new compounds aldehyde hydrazones (4a-4i) and (5a-5i). Their structures were established by IR, 1H NMR and elemental analysis.

New metal-free 5 and metallophthalocyanines 6-11( M = Cu , Ni , Co , Pb , Zn ) fused in peripheral positions with four 24-membered tetraoxatetraaza macrocycles were prepared by cyclotetramerization of 24,25-dicyano-4,10,13,17-tetra(toluene-p-sulfonyl)-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22-didicontinehydrobenzo[y][3,9,12,18]tetraaza[1,7,16,22]tetraoxatetradicontine in the presence of the corresponding metal salt or a strong organic base. While the N-tosylated derivatives of the phthalocyanines are soluble in common organic solvents, the detosylated derivative of copper phthalocyaninate is soluble in water. The aggregation properties of the phthalocyanines were also investigated as a function of concentration, solvent and oxidative medium. The new compounds are characterized by a combination of elemental analysis and 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, IR, UV-vis and MS spectral data.
