A new endemic species, Verbascum shahsavarensis, is described from north of Iran. Based on two unique characters of this species, these being two anterior longitudinally obliquely inserted anthers and an ebracteolate pedicel, we compared it to species described by Murbeck in 1933. The new species can be easily distinguished from the other Iranian species by having bi-colored hairs on the stamen filaments and the unique anther and pedicel characters. A distribution map is provided. The name of new species comes from Shahsavar, the ancient name of Tonekabon, an old coastal city on the Caspian Sea.

Following study of specimens belonging to Astragalus L. sect. Ammodendron Bunge collected from northeastern Iran, two new species and a new record for Iran are described and reported. Astragalus ayatollahii Nasseh, Joharchi & F. Ghahrem. differs from A. biarjmandicus Podlech & Zarre and A. inchebroonensis Maassoumi in having longer racemes with more flowers, only white trichomes on the calyx, and one pair of leaflets in the lower leaves and two pairs in the upper leaves. Astragalus gonabadensis Nasseh, Joharchi & F. Ghahrem. differs from A. baharensis F. Ghahrem. and A. macrobotrys Bunge in characters of the calyx and legume trichomes. Descriptions, distribution maps, and comparative tables of morphological characteristics for these taxa are presented. In addition, the first record of A. excedens Popov & Kult. in the flora of Iran is reported.

Plocama ehrendorferi is described as a new species from southeast of Iran that can be easily distinguished from the related species P. bruguieri and P. kandaharensis by its compact leaves on the stem and shorter internodes, the bright green color of the plant, shorter and narrower leaf segments and the length of corolla. This study provides new information on the taxonomic state and geographical distribution of Plocama species from the flora of Iran. It is concluded that P. macrantha has been reported wrongly from Iran such that the reports of P. kandaharensis and P. olivieri cannot be confirmed.

A new endemic species from western Iran, Teucrium elymaiticum Attar, Sotoodeh & Mirtadzadini, spec. nova is described. It belongs to section Scordium. Considering the combination of some characteristics like indumentum, bracts, pedicel, calyx, corolla size, and nutlet shape and size, the new species is related to T. scordium subsp. scordioides (Schreb.) Arcang.. The differences between these two species are highlighted. Images, distribution map and an updated identification key for the genus are presented.

A new species, Echinops barezicus is described and compared with its closely related taxa. This species is endemic to the southeast of Iran. Morphological evidence confirms its position in E. sect. Oligolepis. Some new synonymizations are proposed: at sectional level, E. sect. Pleiacme is synonymised into E. sect. Oligolepis, and at species and subspecies level, E. ilicifolius var. glanduliger into E. ilicifolius; and E. lalesarensis var. glanduliger into E. lalesarensis. Echinops erioceras is a synonym of E. elymaiticus, E. cervicornis is a synonym of E. lasiolepis, E. farsicus is a synonym of E. ceratophorus. Echinops ghoranus is excluded from the flora of Iran.

Asparagus Linnaeus (1753: 313) (Asparagaceae) is a genus of about 120 species (Baker 1875). The Iranian Asparagus species have been divided into two subgenera: A. subgen. Asparagus and A. subgen. Asparagopsis Kunth (1844: 35) Baker (1875: 595) (Browicz 1990). Eleven species were recorded so far for the country (Baker 1875, Iljin 1935, Parsa 1949, Wendelbo 1964, 1985, Davis, 1984, Browicz, 1990, Hamdi & Assadi 2009, 2012, 2016). While preparing an account of Asparagaceae for Flora of Iran, a putative new species from NW of Iran was found. This was confirmed by the study of herbarium material and field work.

This study aims to revise the taxonomic status of Rhamnus L. and Atadinus Raf. (Rhamnaceae) for the Flora of Iran. Nine species, including 15 taxa are recognized, described and compared with their closely related taxa. These include one new species, R. rahiminejadii Alijanpoor & Assadi, one new subspecies, R. pallasii subsp. mazandaranica Alijanpoor & Assadi, and one hybrid species, R. ×mehreghanii Alijanpoor & Khodayari (R. persica Boiss. × R. kurdica Boiss. & Hohen.). In addition, a hybrid species i.e, ×R. spathulifolia Fisch. & C. A. Mey., is accepted as a distinct species, R. spathulifolia Fisch. & C. A. Mey. and R. cornifolia and R. cornifolia var. denudata, from sect. Rhamnustrum Rouy. are transfered to genus Atadinus Raf. as A. cornifolius (Boiss. & Hohen.) Alijanpoor and A. cornifolius var. denudatus (Bornm.) Alijanpoor.

Cotoneaster nima-yushiji and C. mazandaranicus (sect. Chaenopetalum), two new species of the genus Cotoneaster (Rosaceae) from northern Iran, are described and illustrated. Cotoneaster nima-yushiji is closely related to C. discolor Pojark. (1954: 16) but differs by larger leaves, indumentum of leaves, number of flowers per inflorescence, longer inflorescence, dark red and succulent fruit (vs. light red and non-succulent). C. mazandaranicus is morphologically similar to C. multiflorus C. A. Mey. (1831: 171), but is distinguished by foliar lamina with base narrowly cuneate to cuneate, shape and size of leaves, indumentum of leaves, color of leaves and fruit.
