Following study of specimens belonging to Astragalus L. sect. Ammodendron Bunge collected from northeastern Iran, two new species and a new record for Iran are described and reported. Astragalus ayatollahii Nasseh, Joharchi & F. Ghahrem. differs from A. biarjmandicus Podlech & Zarre and A. inchebroonensis Maassoumi in having longer racemes with more flowers, only white trichomes on the calyx, and one pair of leaflets in the lower leaves and two pairs in the upper leaves. Astragalus gonabadensis Nasseh, Joharchi & F. Ghahrem. differs from A. baharensis F. Ghahrem. and A. macrobotrys Bunge in characters of the calyx and legume trichomes. Descriptions, distribution maps, and comparative tables of morphological characteristics for these taxa are presented. In addition, the first record of A. excedens Popov & Kult. in the flora of Iran is reported.

A synopsis of the metallic carpenter bees Xylocopa subgenus Schonnherria Lepeletier in Colombia is presented. Eleven species were recognized: X. dimidiata Latreille, X. ecuadorica Cockerell, X. lateralis Say, X. lucida Smith, X. metallica Smith, X. muscaria (Fabricius), X. ornata Smith, X. viridis Smith, and X. simillima Smith, being this latter a new record for the country. In addition, two new species are described: X. auriventris n. sp. and X. romeroi n. sp. from the Colombian Andean and Pacific region, respectively. To stabilize the application of some names, lectotypes were designated for X. binotata Pérez (=X. lateralis), X. muscaria, X. ornata, X. simillima and X. viridis. Diagnoses, descriptions, comments, floral records, distribution maps, figures and an identification key are also provided.

Diaziella bizarrea van Noort & Rasplus sp. nov. is described from specimens reared from Ficus glaberrima and Diaziella yangi van Noort & Rasplus sp. nov. is described from specimens reared from Ficus curtipes in Xishuangbanna, China. Together with a new record of Diaziella macroptera Grandi from Thailand this is the first time the genus has been recorded from the Asian mainland. Previously the twelve described species of Diaziella were known from the islands of Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi and the Philippines. Images are provided for both sexes of the two new species and for the female of D. macroptera. A key is included to all described species of Diaziella. Two new species of Stigmatodactylus from Palawan Island in the Philippines are described and illustrated. The taxa, which represent the first records for the genus Stigmatodactylus in the Philippines, are restricted to the ultramafic peaks of central Palawan. Cryptostylis carinata, originally described from New Guinea, is also documented, representing a first record for this species in Palawan.

The study of the Poduromorpha fauna of a sample from Paraná State, Brazil, and multiple samples from high altitude mountains of Southeast Brazil provided important data on Hypogastruridae, including a new record for Brazil ofCeratophysella engadinensis(Gisin 1949) and two new species belonging toXenyllaTullberg 1869,X. manuelaesp.n. andX. wandaesp.n. These last present a pair of remarkable creased cuticular structures on abdominal tergite IV, apparently unique among the genus. In addition, a new species of Pseudachorutinae,Cephalachorutes anneaesp.n., is the first Neotropical record ofCephalachorutesBedos & Deharveng 1991, corroborating its holotropical distribution. The set of characteristics displayed by this new species required the expansion of the genus diagnosis.

Two Brassicaceae novelties are reported from Iran. Erysimum hezarense (Erysimeae) is described and illustrated as a newly discovered species. It resembles E. subulatum, E. laxiflorum and E. iraqense but can be readily distinguished by the indumentum of stem, leaves and pedicels; bicolor petals; and number of flowers on the main inflorescence. It is also separated geographically being restricted to Hezar mts. (prov. Kerman, South Iran) where none of the related species occurs. Because of the very limited distribution and high risk of its habit destruction, inclusion of E. hezarense into IUCN Red List with a status vulnerable (VU) is proposed. Besides, Rhammatophyllum gaudanense (Euclidieae) is reported from NE Iran representing the first record of the genus for the country. Contrary, the previous record of R. gaudanense from Afghanistan is considered doubtful and not confirmed. Detailed morphological description, illustration and synonymy of R. gaudanense is provided along with the key differences from the closely related taxa. Distribution maps for both E. hezarense and R. gaudanense are given.

Two species of Sunius Stephens, 1829 are described and illustrated: S. reuteri spec. nov. (North Iraq), the first record of the genus from Iraq, and S. concurvatus spec. nov. (South Iran). Additional records of six previously described species are reported from the West Palaearctic region. Updated distribution maps are provided for S. khnzoriani (Coiffait, 1970) and S. fulgocephalus (Coiffait, 1970). The genus is currently represented in the Palaearctic region by 138 described species and two subspecies. AbstractTirmizi & Kazmi (1988) reported sixteen majid crabs from Pakistan, later two more species were added (Kazmi & Tirmizi, 1995). In the present paper one species, Menaethiops nodulosus (Nobili), is being recorded for the first time from Pakistan and two species, Menaethiops gadaniensis and Pseudomicippe griffini, are being described as new. Pseudomicippe here presents the first record of the genus for this region. A note is also added on live specimens of Stilbognathus curvicornis (Herbst) previously reported from Pakistan from a dry piece of carapace only. Tirmizi & Kazmi (1988) ont signale du Pakistan seize especes de crabes Majidae, auxquelles se sont ajoutees deux especes supplementaires (Kazmi & Tirmizi, 1995). Dans le present article une espece, Menaethiops nodulosus (Nobili), est signalee pour la premiere fois de Pakistan et deux especes, Menaethiops gadaniensis et Pseudomicippe griffini, sont decrites comme nouvelles. C'est la premiere mention du genre Pseudomicippe dans la region. Une note est aussi ajoutee sur des specimens vivants de Stilbognathus curvicornis (Herbst), espece qui avait ete precedemment signalee de Pakistan seulement d'apres un fragment sec de carapace.

Geographical Scope

Typhrasa is a rare genus that comprises two species and that has previously been reported only from Europe and North America. The present study expands the geographical scope of the genus by describing two new species – T. polycystis and T. rugocephala – from subtropical China. The new species are supported by morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses (ITS, LSU and tef-1α). The new species have very similar morphological characteristics and are 98% similar in their ITS region. However, T. rugocephala has two types of long gills at the same time, rarely fusiform pleurocystidia with rostrum. Detailed descriptions, colour photos, illustrations and a key to related species are presented in this paper.
