AbstractThere is great variation in whether foreign sounds in loanwords are adapted or retained. Importantly, the retention of foreign sounds can lead to a sound change in the language. We propose that social factors influence the likelihood of loanword sound adaptation, and use this case to introduce a novel experimental paradigm for studying language change that captures the role of social factors. Specifically, we show that the relative prestige of the donor language in the loanword’s semantic domain influences the rate of sound adaptation. We further show that speakers adapt to the performance of their ‘community', and that this adaptation leads to the creation of a norm. The results of this study are thus the first to show an effect of social factors on loanword sound adaptation in an experimental setting. Moreover, they open up a new domain of experimentally studying language change in a manner that integrates social factors.

The article presents data for creating technological line for the cultivation of modified lines of mammalian cells expressing recombinant proteins. This line is composed of three sections: for the creation of the modified lines of mammalian cells using modern molecular biological tools; for the implementation of scalable cultivation of genetically modified mammalian cells lines; for separation and purification of recombinant polypeptides using validated methods. Within the framework of the experimental study, the cells of СНО-S line, producing recombinant protein GP of the Ebola virus, have been grown up in the mixer reactor and in the wave-type fermenter with the use of suspension technology. It is established, that the wave-type fermenters have the advantage in the accumulation of cells and necessary protein. The recombinant polypeptide GP with purity exceeding 95 % has been isolated and purified from the cultural liquid. During the study of recombinant protein GP by ELISA and Western blot methods, it was detected that it's structure coincides with that of the native glycoprotein of the Ebola virus causative agent

Since 2010, the didacticians specialized on foreign language teaching are working on emotions. Our reflexion fits into this framework. This article presents a cognitive didactics research on foreign language. It deals with how learners memorize the dialogue of a film extract when this dialogue has emotional lexicon. In order to observe this phenomenon, an experimental study was conducted to 13 chinese subjects with a B2 level in french. First, the participants learn the dialogue of an extract in order to play the scene. A week later, they are asked to remember the dialogue. The results show that the participants memorize more the part of the dialogue with emotional lexicon. This results have clear implications for the creation of pedagogical tools and the selection of tools for people who want to improve the learner’s cognitive memorization process and the acquisition of vocabulary and linguistic structures. Keywords : cognition, french as a foreign language, emotional lexicon, memorization.

Participation in the budgetary process does not only comes with a positive effect(s) but could also lead to negative behavior(s) of employees, one of which is the creation of budgetary slack. Previous studies said that information asymmetry is rated as one of the causes of the creation of budgetary slack. The purposes of this 3x2 factorial experimental study and between subject designs are to see the effect of information asymmetry on the budgetary slack and see whether information asymmetry and self-efficacy leads to the creation of budgetary slack. This study involved 65 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the accounting department of Economics and Business Faculty in Universitas Airlangga Surabaya as participants. One way ANOVA and two- way ANOVA is used to test and analyze the proposed hypothesis. Results show that information asymmetry influences the creation of budgetary slack. However, production managers with high or low self-efficacy are still taking advantage of asymmetric information that happened to do budgetary slack.

Sunday TV Mass (STVM) is one of the Catholic Churchs initiatives for evangelization via media. Primarily produced to spread the Good News, it is specifically for the sick and physically incapable since they cannot go to churches to attend Mass and fulfill their Sunday obligation. However, since the broadcast Mass is communicated through a mass medium and is exposed to a wider audience than necessarily targeted, some people, the adolescents (youth) in particular, make STVM an excuse to forego Mass attendance in their respective churches. This experimental study will focus on STVM on its role as evangelizer and catalyst to ritual formation. James Careys theory of Ritual Communication describes this practice as an enabler to the creation of a community of believers among the youth and George Gerbners Cultivation Theory on how television creates a worldview that unravels ritualistic experience by watching STVM. The respondents of the study are 40 high school students of Angelicum College.  Selected purposively, the students were instructed and monitored to watch STVM for four Sundays. These students are top achievers in their Religion subjects and are exposed to different religious activities in their school.

How does one go about asking for opinions from participants about ‘health and social care integration’? As this ‘concept of integration’ is relatively vague and ambiguous. Indeed, in an earlier project we found that people that work in the social care sector really favoured closer collaboration, whereas healthcare colleagues really did not care much about such collaboration. This impression is merely anecdotal in nature, how does one tease out an individual’s preference for collaboration. In short, we have decided to use the empathy scale from the well- established Social Dominance Orientation scales, to use as a proxy for ‘willingness to collaborate’. Essentially, the assumption made here is; if a participant indicates a higher level of empathy then they are more likely to collaborate with others. It follows from this assumption that those more likely to collaborate are more like to want to integrate. It is this logic that has been applied to the creation of this experiment and we anticipate that this will be a contentious point. We would like to point out that, even though on its own, this may be a precarious assumption to make. However, this experimental study should be seen in light of the wider dissertation and the wider study design context in which it operates.

The work is devoted to the creation of a test bench for a gear pump with options for adjusting the parameters: operating fluid temperature, engine speed, pump load. An experimental study of the effect of hydraulic oil temperature on the characteristics of a gear pump has been made. An analytical dependence is proposed to determine the characteristic of a gear pump with regard to the temperature and pressure of the hydraulic oil.
