Fe/Si multi-layer films were fabricated on Si (100) substrates utilizing radio frequency magnetron sputtering system. Si/β-FeSi2 structure was found in the films after the deposition. Structural characterization of Fe-silicide sample was performed by transmission electron microscopy, to explore the dependence of the microstructure of β-FeSi2 film on the preparation parameters. It was found that β-FeSi2 particles were formed after the deposition without annealing, whose size is less than 20nm ,with a direct band-gap of 0.94eV in room temperature. After annealing at 850°C, particles grow lager, however the stability of thin films was still good.

The Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, situated in the north-east Brazilian margin, has a long tradition of oil and gas production and the presence and distribution of evaporites play an important role in petroleum systems in the basin. However, little research has focused on the structural evolution of the older, synrift evaporitic sections of the basin. We have focused explicitly in the detailed subsurface structural characterization of the rift in the Alagoas subbasin and the distribution of the Early Aptian evaporites. To accomplish this objective, we interpreted selected 2D and 3D seismic and well data located in two areas known as the Varela Low (VL) and Fazenda Guindaste Low (FGL). We identified diverse deformation styles in those two basin depocenters. Our interpretation indicates that VL consists of a half-graben with a significant rollover structure, controlled by two listric northeast–southwest border faults. The deformation in the hanging wall is also accommodated by release faults and minor antithetic faults. In this depocenter, we mapped in the seismic and the well data an older evaporitic sequence within the Coqueiro Seco Fm., known as Horizonte Salt. This evaporitic section occurs in the internal part of the VL half graben, where it is limited by release and antithetic faults. Significant salt strata growing toward the antithetic fault is observed. Whereas, the FGL represents a graben elongated along the north-east direction and is controlled by several types of structures. We recognized normal synthetic and antithetic faults, transfer zones, release faults, and rollover anticlines in the seismic throughout this depocenter. We mapped an evaporitic section within the Maceió Fm., known as Paripueira Salt, which consists of disconnected salt bodies, restricted to the hanging walls of synrift faults.

ABSTRACTAntimony-doped tin oxide (ATO) nanophase materials containing up to 43 mole% antimony have been synthesized by a wet-chemistry method. These ATO materials exhibit enhanced electrochromic properties for display devices. The performance of the display devices is related to the nanostructure of the synthesized ATO materials. The average sizes of the ATO nanocrystallites depend on dopant level, annealing conditions, and synthesis processes. Antimony inhibits the growth of tin dioxide nanocrystallites during annealing at moderate temperatures. At higher annealing temperatures, however, antimony segregates to form separate oxide phases and ATO nanocrystallites grow significantly. A systematic study of the structural evolution of the synthesized ATO materials is presented and the relationship between the nanostructure of the ATO materials and the enhanced performance of the corresponding electrochromic devices is discussed.

In the present study nanostructured Cu ( Mo ) compound with 15 weight percent Mo was produced by mechanical alloying using a planetary ball mill. The milling operation was carried out in hardened chromium steel vial and balls under argon atmosphere with a constant ball to powder ratio of 10:1. The structural evolution and characterization of powder particles after different milling times were studied by X-Ray Diffraction, SEM observation and Microhardness measurements. The results showed the displacement of broadened Cu peaks to lower angles, because of dissolving Mo in Cu . The final product was a nanocomposite contains nanocrystalline Cu ( Mo ) supersaturated solid solution matrix and dispersion of nanometric Mo reinforcements. The microhardness of formed nanocomposite increased to 350HV because of grain refinement, formation of solid solution and dispersion hardening.
