The use of miniscrews for orthodontic anchorage combined to periodontal treatment in aggressive periodontitis: case report and review of the literature. Introduction: Miniscrews (MSs) have gained rapid popularity among orthodontic specialists over the past decade. Subsequently, as general dental practitioners continue to provide general care for patients undergoing orthodontic treatment they are likely to encounter MSs. Observation: A 60-year-old woman concerned about generalized agressive periodontitis (generalized periodontitis stage-III) with complaints of diastema and spacing in the upper arch, received for ten years nonsurgical therapy via scaling and root planning combined with systemic antibiotics. Maxillary periodontal flaps achieved this primary periodontal treatment. As she complained of protrusion of her maxillary incisors she was referred for orthodontic treatment with palatinal MSs to retract and align the maxillary anterior segment. A 26 months follow-up showed esthetic and functional stability of the result. Discussion: This case report demonstrates efficacity of combined periodontal and orthodontic treatments using palatinal MSs in order to successfully contribute to treatment of stage-III periodontitis.

To present the clinical presence, histopathological features, and management of a rare peripheral odontogenic fibroma (POF) case. A 32-year-old male patient was referred to the clinic complaining of a localized gingival enlargement of the anterior maxillary region. Initial periodontal treatment was delivered and the patient was informed about proper oral hygiene. After the initial periodontal treatment, the lesion was surgically excised while preserving the marginal line. POF was diagnosed based on clinical and histopathological findings. Normal mechanical oral hygiene was established in the postoperative period. No recurrence was observed during this follow-up period, and the patient was included in the maintenance phase. POF was treated with local excision and the prognosis was excellent. Regular follow-ups are very important for such patients after surgery.

This case report describes the positive outcome of a therapeutic intervention that integrated an intensive, residential component with follow-up telepractice for a 21 year old male who stutters. This therapy utilized an eclectic approach to intensive therapy in conjunction with a 12-month follow-up via video telepractice. The results indicated that the client benefited from the program as demonstrated by a reduction in percent stuttered syllables, a reduction in stuttering severity, and a change in attitudes and feelings related to stuttering and speaking.
