ABSTRACT A new miniature species of banjo catfish of the genus Hoplomyzon is described from the Lake Maracaibo Basin in Venezuela. The new species is distinguished from all its congeners by the straight anterior margin of the mesethmoid (vs. a medial notch); a smooth and straight ventral surface of the premaxilla (vs. presence of bony knobs on the ventral surface of premaxilla); absence of teeth on dentary (vs. teeth present on dentary); configuration of ventral vertebral processes anterior to anal fin, which are composed of single processes anterior to anal-fin pterygiophore (vs. paired process); presence of several filamentous barbel-like structures on the ventral surface of head of adults (vs. small papillous structures in the ventral surface of head of adults); and 8 anal-fin rays (vs. 6 or 7). An extensive osteological description is made of the holotype using high-resolution x-ray computed microtomography (HRXCT).

A new species of malachite beetles, Protomauroania mikhailovi Tshernyshev & Perkovsky, sp. n. is described from late Eocene Rovno amber. The new beetle is the second species of the Eocene fossil genus Protomauroania Tshernyshev, 2021 that was first recorded in Rovno amber and shows fauna similarity of dasytids in Baltic and Rovno amber. The new species is typical owing to the following characters: antennae with 5-segmented wide club, surface covered with dark-brown long semi-erect thin setae, and the ultimate ventrite (apical sternite) simple, narrow, not depressed. Digital high resolution pictures of the beetle are provided.

The Devonian-Carboniferous Boundary sections at Hasselbachtal, Oese, Apricke, and Ober-Rödinghausen, all located at the northern margin of the Rhenish Mountains, were measured in detail. A semi-quantitative evaluation of the carbonate content and resulting carbonate curves permitted a highly exact correlation of these sections. This result is supported by data on ammonoid records and volcanoclastic horizons. Carbonate fluctuations within the Hangenberg Limestone are regarded as showing a 100000 years cyclicity. A new ammonoid genus <i>Hasselbachia</i> n. gen. and the species <i>Paprothites ruzhencevi</i> n. sp. are described. Among the rugose corals, a new species <i>Hillaxon hassel</i> n. sp., is erected. <br><br> Die Devon/Karbon-Grenzprofile Hasselbachtal, Oese, Apricke und Ober-Rödinghausen, alle auf der Nordflanke des Remscheid-Altenaer Sattels gelegen, wurden detailliert aufgenommen. Die halbquantitative Ermittlung des Karbonatgehaltes und daraus resultierenden Karbonatkurven eignen sich für eine sehr genaue Korrelation dieser Profile, die durch Funde von Ammonoideen sowie durch vulkanoklastische Horizonte unterstützt wird. Wechsel im Karbonatgehalt werden als 100000 Jahres-Zyklizität gedeutet. Die neue Ammonoideen-Gattung <i>Hasselbachia</i> n. gen. sowie die Art <i>Paprothites ruzhencevi</i> n. sp. werden beschrieben. ABSTRACT A taxonomic revision and phylogenetic analysis were completed for Dasyloricaria . The genus includes three valid species: D . filamentosa and D . latiura previously included in the genus, and a new species described herein. Dasyloricaria have a restricted trans-Andean distribution, with D . filamentosa occurring at the lower and middle Magdalena, lower Cauca, and Sinu in Colombia, and lago Maracaibo basin in Colombia and Venezuela; D . latiura in the Atrato and the Tuyra basins in Colombia and Panama, respectively; and the new species in the upper and middle Magdalena basin in Colombia. New synonyms for D . filamentosa and D . latiura are proposed, and a lectotype is designated for the latter. Dasyloricaria is herein recognized as monophyletic, with D . filamentosa as the sister group of D . latiura , and the new speciesas sister to that clade. Spatuloricaria is hypothesized to be the sister group of Dasyloricaria based on synapomorphies of the neurocranium, branchial arches and external morphology features. The subtribe Rineloricariina was partially corroborated through the phylogenetic analysis. An identification key for the species of Dasyloricaria is provided.

A new species of Cetopsis is described from Guiana Shield drainages in Guyana and Suriname. The new species is found in the Konawaruk River and tributaries, Essequibo River basin, Guyana, and in the Mauritie Creek, tributary to the Tempati River, upper Commewijne River basin, Suriname. The new taxon can be distinguished from all congeners by a combination of features: dark spots on sides of the body eye-sized or larger, dark, bilobed patch at the base of the caudal fin, absence of a dark humeral spot, absence of dark pigmentation along the fin-membrane posterior to the first dorsal-fin ray, dark pigmentation at the base of the dorsal fin, dark spots extending ventrally to the bases of anal-fin rays, and 41 total vertebrae with 28 caudal vertebrae. Data on internal anatomy of the new species were incorporated into a previously-published phylogenetic analysis and resolves the position of the new species as the sister group of C. motatanensis, from Lago Maracaibo basin. The new Cetopsis is the first species of the genus known to occur exclusively in the Guiana Shield.

To date, some species in the genus Thyreophagus, such as Th. entomophagus and Th. cracentiseta, have been shown to be useful factitious prey for mass-rearing of predacious phytoseiid mites, one of the most common groups of mites used for biological control. Here, we describe a new species, Thyreophagus plocepasseri sp. n. from Kenya that can serve as a factitious prey as well. In addition, the new species is asexual, a trait that can be advantageous for its mass-rearing in industrial settings. In the description, we use high-resolution light microscope imaging and extensive comparison with a similar species, Thyreophagus athiasae, for which the type was studied. We review the literature on asexual acarid mites and point to a lack of data on the presence of sex-manipulating bacteria (Wolbachia, Cardinium) in these asexual mite lineages. Based on the literature, these bacteria are known to induce parthenogenesis in several haplodiploid mites, but they have not been linked so far to parthenogenesis inducement in diplodiploid acarid mites.

Limnebius acupunctus, new species, is described, based on a study of 2,013 specimens. This is the first species of the genus to be described from Australia and Papua New Guinea. The wide geographical distribution of the species is mapped, together with illustrations of aedeagal variation. High resolution digital images of the holotype are presented.
