Objective Health care organizations require cloud computing to remain efficient and cost-effective, and provide high-quality health care services. Adoption of this technology by users plays a critical role in the success of its application. This study aimed to determine factors affecting cloud computing adoption in public hospitals affiliated with Zahedan University of Medical Sciences. Methods A cross-sectional descriptive and analytic study was performed in 2017. The study population comprised information technology and hospital information system authorities and hospital information system users. The sample consisted of 573 participants. The data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed with the Statistical Package for Social Sciences software using descriptive and analytical statistics. Results The mean score of environmental, human, organizational, technological, and intention dimensions of cloud computing adoption was 3.39 ± 0.81, 3.27 ± 0.63, 3.19 ± 0.71, 3 ± 0.43, and 3.55 ± 1.10, respectively. Furthermore, a significant positive relationship was found between intention of cloud computing adoption and environmental ( R = 0.521, p = 0.000), organizational ( R = 0.426, p = 0.000), human ( R = 0.492, p = 0.000), and technological dimensions ( R = 0.157, p = 0.000). Conclusions Benefits of cloud computing adoption, relative advantage, and competitive pressure were identified as the most influential factors in accepting cloud computing. Simplifying the users’ understanding of this technology and its application, improving the staff's technical capabilities, promoting executive managers’ understanding of the nature and functions of cloud computing, and fully supporting and increasing governmental mandates for adoption of new technologies are necessary for facilitating the adoption of cloud computing in given hospitals.

Implementing Hospital Information System is an ultimately important practice that should be performed by hospitals in order to deliver accurate, timely, complete, and easily accessible data/information in an integrated manner. Given the specific characteristics of Indonesia, the objective of this research is to design an Information System Architecture as part of the Enterprise Architecture based on The Open Group Architecture Framework in order to support the Hospital Information System implementation in Indonesia. This research focuses on the hospitals basic processes, viz. the emergency processes, the inpatient processes and the outpatient processes. The integration aspect of the architecture should connect the hospitals with other related stakeholders. This research is a qualitative study by conducting interviews and observations in three government public hospitals, several directorate generals of the Indonesian Ministry of Health and a representative from the WHO. The result of this research is an integrated Information System Architecture model.

: The current study examines the effects of a hospital information system (HIS) on the performance of management units in Ahvaz public hospitals, Iran. The HIS supports hospital activities at practical, tactical, and strategic levels. In other words, this system establishes a connection between patient care and administrative information in all hospital activities. This descriptive-analytic research was an applied study with a correlational method. The hypotheses were tested by correlation model, structural equation modeling, one-sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and one-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test using the SPSS software version 20 and LISREL. The findings of this study indicated that an automated HIS can be a powerful tool helping managers with the process of hospital management and decision-making, leading to significantly improved hospital performance. Therefore, continuous training courses are beneficial in enhancing information quality and modern technology usage, which in turn improve the quality of services offered to patients and clients and make them less time-consuming. As a result, an effective step is taken in improving health services. The present study showed that the characteristics of HIS, including user-friendliness, speed, quality, being up-to-date, conformity with working conditions, and proficiency, have positive and significant impacts on the performance of management units.

This paper presents an extensive literature review of Hospital Information System (HIS) in public hospital in Malaysia. This paper aims to deliver information (guideline) about the importance and benefits of HIS so that can help government to enhance the standard of healthcare quality. Accordingly, the Malaysian Government Ministry of Health (MoH) has presented three groups of HIS such as Basic Hospital Information System (BHIS), Intermediate Hospital Information System (IHIS), and Total Hospital Information System (THIS) amongst Malaysian government owned (public) hospitals. In Malaysia, there are 138 public hospitals but at this time only 21 hospitals implementing HIS. In this paper, researcher explains the three groups of HIS (THIS, BHIS, IHIS), the benefits, the challenges, the frameworks, also the current issues of HIS.

Background: Hospital Information System (HIS) is implemented to provide high-quality patient care. The aim of this study is to identify significant dimensional factors that influence the hospital decision in adopting the HIS.Methods: This study designs the initial integrated model by taking the three main dimensions in adopting HIS technology. Accordingly, DEMATEL was utilized to test the strength of interdependencies among the dimensions and variables. Then ANP approach is adapted to determining how the factors are weighted and prioritized by professionals and main users working in the Iranian public hospitals, involved with the HIS system.Results: The results indicated that “Perceived Technical Competence” is a key factor in the Human dimension. The respondents also believed that “Relative Advantage," “Compatibility” and “Security Concern” of Technology dimension should be further assessed in relation to other factors. With respect to Organization dimension, “Top Management Support” and “Vendor Support” are considered more important than others.Conclusion: Applying the TOE and HOT-fit models as the pillar of our developed model with significant findings add to the growing literature on the factors associated with the adoption of HIS and also shed some light for managers of public hospitals in Iran to successfully adopt the HIS.

The paper gives a report on the Karolinska Hospital Information System in three parts.In part I, the information problems in health care delivery are discussed and the approach to systems design at the Karolinska Hospital is reported, contrasted, with the traditional approach.In part II, the data base and the data processing system, named T1—J 5, are described.In part III, the applications of the data base and the data processing system are illustrated by a broad description of the contents and rise of the patient data base at the Karolinska Hospital.
