Abstract We describe a new method for quantification of iodoamino acids after enzymatic hydrolysis of thyroglobulin. The procedure involves separation of monoiodotyrosine (MIT), diiodotyrosine, tri-iodothyronine and thyroxine by reverse phase HPLC with a Vydac C18 stationary phase and a mobile phase of water–acetonitrile–acetic acid. The separation is monitored by sensitive spectrophotometric detection through a 96-well microplate system based on the catalytic Sandell–Kolthoff reaction of iodide on the oxidation of arsenic(III) by cerium(IV). This new microassay is particularly convenient because of its high sensitivity and its rapidity (less than 2 h). It can detect 1 pmol MIT and 0·5 pmol of the other three iodoamino acids with a recovery higher than 96%. Moreover, the 96-well microplate system allows many samples to be tested simultaneously and avoids the use of radiolabeled iodine. Journal of Endocrinology (1997) 153, 99–104

Background: Curcumin is a major ingredient in turmeric (Curcuma longa L., Zingiberaceae), which has important activities such as anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-ischemia, protection of gastric mucosa etc,. Curcumin can be considered as a biological marker of turmeric and turmeric products. Objectives: Developing an HPLC method for quantification of curcumin in turmeric powder and turmeric - honey ball pills; applying this method for products on the market. Materials and methods: turmeric powder and turmeric - honey ball pills collected in Thua Thien Hue province. After optimization process, the method was validated and applied to evaluate the content of curcumin. Results: The chromatography analysis was performed with: Zorbaz Eclipse XDB-C18 (150 × 4.6 nm; 5 µm); Mobile phase: acetonitril: 2% acetic acid (45:55), Flow rate was kept constant at 1.0 ml/min; Detector PDA (420 nm). The method was validated for the HPLC system compatibility, specificity, linearity range, precision and accuracy; the recovery greater than 98%. Conclusion: The developed HPLC method can determine curcumin in turmeric powder and turmeric - honey ball pills. A reverse phase HPLC method is developed for the determination of Raloxifene in pharmaceutical dosage forms. Chromatography was carried out on an inertsil C18 column using a mixture of acetonitrile and phosphate buffer (30:70 v/v) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. Detection was carried out at 290 nm .The retention time of the drug was 10.609 min. The method produced linear responses in the concentration range of 0.5-200 µg/mL of Raloxifene. The method was found to be applicable for determination of the drug in tablets.

Abstract Chlorophacinone and diphacinone are extracted at the 0.005% level from grain or paraffinized baits with glacial acetic acid. The target concentration is 0.01 mg/mL. The filtered supernate is chromatographed on a Partisil PXS ODS10/25 liquid chromatography column with premixed and degassed glacial acetic acid-tetrahydrofuran-water (14 + 2 + 9) and detected at 288 nm. The concentration is calculated by using an external standard. The recovery from spiked samples averaged 96.6% for both analytes. The response is linear from 0.001 to 0.040 mg/mL. The coefficient of variation of within-day replicates ranged from 1.1 to 2.5%.
