Previously obtained conductivity and viscosity results for the system (Li,K)2SO4 with less than 3 mole% K2SO4 show bad agreement with the phase diagram given in the literature. From conductivity, viscosity and differential thermal analysis we have constructed a new phase diagram for these concentrations.

ABSTRACTThe heating rate dependence of the phase transition temperature was formulated based on the temperature dependence of nucleation of a new phase. The glass transition temperature of a-Si was explained in terms of van der Waals fluid of a-Si pseudo-Molecules which are produced by the fragmentation of continuous random networks of Si atoms. Transient phases and their transition temperatures as a function of the heating rate are summarized in the phase diagram.

The morphotropic phase boundary in the phase diagram of the technologically important Pb(ZrxTi1−x)O3(PZT) ceramics has been traditionally believed to separate ferroelectric tetragonal and rhombohedral phase regions. This old picture has come under close scrutiny during the last eight years following the discovery of new monoclinic phases in theCmandCcspace groups. This article presents a brief overview of these discoveries in which the use of multiple diffraction probes (X-ray, electron, neutron diffraction) in conjunction with physical property measurements has played a crucial role. A new phase diagram of PZT showing the stability fields of these structures below room temperature is also presented.
