Background: Diabetic foot care management is directed at patients with a history of complications, especially those with rising levels of hemoglobin A1c, and those who have had diabetes for several years. The aim of this study was to cross-culturally adapt a French-language version of the Diabetic Foot Self-care Questionnaire of the University of Malaga (DFSQ-UMA) for use in France. Methods: Cross-cultural adaptation was performed according to relevant international guidelines (International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research), and the factor structure was determined. Internal consistency was measured using the Cronbach α. Item-total and inter-item correlations were assessed. Results: The French data set comprised 146 patients. The mean ± SD patient age was 62.60 ± 15.47 years. There were 47 women and 99 men. The structure matrix (with three factors) was tested by confirmatory factor analysis. The 16-item questionnaire had a Cronbach α of 0.92. The mean value for inter-item correlations was 0.48 (range, 0.17–0.86). The rotated solution revealed a three-factor structure that accounted for 48.10% of the variance observed. A significant inverse correlation was observed between questionnaire scores and hemoglobin A1c levels (r = –0.17; P < .01). Conclusions: This study validates the French-language version of the DFSQ-UMA, which can be used as a self-reported outcome measure for French-speaking patients in France.

Introduction. This study aimed to validate the Hong Kong version of the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HK-KOOS) for patients with knee osteoarthritis. Methods. Content validity was assessed using the Item and Scale Content Validity Index (I-CVI and S-CVI). Test-retest reliability and internal consistency were assessed by the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) and Cronbach’s alpha. Dimensionality was assessed by performing exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Convergent and Divergent Validity was performed by examining the correlation between the HK-KOOS and the Chinese version of the Short Form 12 (SF-12) Health Survey, the Chinese Modified Barthel Index (C-MBI), and the Visual Analogue Scale for Pain (VAS-Pain). Ceiling and floor effects were also examined. Results. A total of 125 participants were recruited in this study. In general, all instructions, items, and response options were considered as understandable, indicating a satisfactory cross-cultural adaptation. The I-CVI and S-CVI scores were 0.80-1 and 0.90-1, respectively, indicating excellent content validity in terms of relevance, representativeness, and understandability. The test-retest reliability of all HK-KOOS subscales was satisfactory with ICC exceeding 0.70 for all domains. Cronbach’s alpha exceeded 0.80 for all subscales, indicating satisfactory internal consistency. Medium to strong correlations were found between the HK-KOOS and the VAS-Pain, SF-12, and C-MBI. However, factor analysis indicated a seven-factor structure, rather than the original five-factor structure. Items on pain and activities of daily living were loaded in the same factors. A floor effect was present in the sports and recreation subscale. Discussion and Conclusions. Future studies should further examine the dimensionality of the KOOS. The HK-KOOS is a culturally adapted, reliable, and valid outcome measure instrument to be used in Hong Kong patients with primary knee osteoarthritis.

Objective: To date, there are very limited instruments published in Malaysia in measuring role conflict and role ambiguity among counselors-in-training in supervision during practicum and internship training. The Role Conflict and Role Ambiguity Inventory (RCRAI) was developed to address the critical issues in trainees’ perception of role difficulties in supervision. The original version of the RCRAI demonstrated satisfactory reliability and high internal consistency. Thus, this study aims to translate the RCRAI into the Malay language and cross-culturally adapt the instrument to be used in the Malaysia setting. Methods: The Malay-language version of the RCRAI was developed according to the cross-cultural adaptation process methodology. The process included the following steps: translations; a synthesized of the translated versions; back-translations; a synthesized back-translated version; review by expert comittees, pretested instrument, and revised instrument. The RCRAI was pretested among 30 CITs between the age of 23 and 48 years old who enrolled in the practicum course, with the objective of determining the comprehensibility and clarity of the items for the target population. Results: The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the RCRAI followed for recommendations. The linguistic issues that emerged during the process were discussed by the subject matter experts and were slightly modified. During the pre-test, participants reported that the items on the questionnaire were clear, comprehensible and reliable to be used in the Malaysian context. Conclusions: The translation of the RCRAI into Malay and its cross-cultural adaptation were successful. Additional studies are needed to test the validity and psychometric properties of this Malay version in Malaysia.

IntroductionSelf-efficacy is the belief or personal confidence related to the own ability to perform a specific action necessary to obtain a certain result. Its use refers to the application of validated instruments.AimsDescribe the process of cross-cultural adaptation of the drug-taking confidence Questionnaire (DTCQ-8) drugs’ version and to verify its content validity and reliability.MethodsIt's a methodological study accomplished by nine experts to the process of adaptation and validation and had a sample of 40 drug users in treatment in the Center of Psycho-Social Attention for alcohol and other drugs, Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil.ResultsThe mean index semantics’ agreement (0.989; 0.989; 1.00), idiomatic (0.967), experiential (0.956), conceptual (0.978) and content validation on the clarity of language (0.972), practical relevance (0.958), the theoretical importance (0.958) and theoretical dimension (1.00) demonstrated a satisfactory process. The clinical validation showed that 57.5% of users were classified as moderate on the self-efficacy item to resist the urge to use drugs in high-risk situations, and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.889 for the complete instrument, ranging from 0.863 to 0.890 among its items.ConclusionsDTCQ-8 drugs proved to be easy to apply and understand. Its adaptation process was satisfactory for the application in the Brazilian context. The results showed that in this sample, this instrument was suitable to measure the Brazilian user's self-efficacy to resist the urge to consume these substances in high-risk situations.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

The article is devoted to the problem of overcoming the contradiction between the requirements of society for inclusion in the ethno-social educational environment and providing comfortable intercultural communication. Therefore, the goal is to study "ethno-inclusion – ethno-exclusion" as a dual model of cross-cultural interaction. The study is presented as an area of scientific reflection describing the situation of interethnic interaction in the socio-cultural environment and revealing the behavioral vectors of the individual, allowing characterizing the current communicative situation in terms of the impact of extremism and negative socio-cultural transformations. The empirical base is the research conducted by the method of questioning of Tomsk state University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) students in 2017. As a methodological basis adapted by the authors’ version of the method "Types of ethnic identity" G. U. Soldatova, S. V. Ryzhova was chosen. The dominant type, according to the results of surveys, was the type of "norm", suggesting an optimal balance of tolerance towards their own and other ethnic groups. The article presents the models of behavioral vectors correlating with the stages of cross-cultural adaptation process according to M. J. Bennett, that allows us to consider in detail the structure of positive ethnic identity (norm). Positive ethnic identity (norm), represented by the successive development of ethno-relativistic stages of perception of another culture, in its maximum value is defined as the stage of "integration", which is fixed among senior students. The functional stages of "recognition" and "adaptation" is of a transit nature and has fluctuating properties. In the analysis of ethnic identity, it is necessary to focus on the conceptual difference between them, integration as a normative form of cultural existence implies the presence of multiculturalism, a polyvariant image of the world and the multidimensionality of personal experience. The authors rely on their own system of indicators of the quality of the ethno-social educational environment. The materials of this article lay the foundations of interdisciplinary approaches to the formation of theoretical and methodological support of "ethno-inclusion" in the University environment and can be used in the educational process in the preparation of courses on intercultural communication, cultural studies, psychology, philosophy and other fields of knowledge related to the construction of a comfortable environment of cross-cultural interaction.
