Two-dimensional photonic crystals (2D-PCs) with Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 ( GST ) nanohole arrays were prepared by the nanosphere lithography (NSL) process. A primary factor of PCs is that the refractive index (n) and the n-modulation can be realized by using the GST films, which exhibit a reversible phase transformation between amorphous and crystalline states by laser illumination. The polystyrene (PS) spheres with a diameter of 500 nm were spin-coated on Si substrate and subsequently reduced by O 2-plasma treatment. The reduced spheres were utilized as a lift-off mask of the NSL process and their size and separation could be precisely controlled. Amorphous GST films were thermally evaporated and then the reduced PS spheres were removed. The fabricated GST nanohole arrays were observed by SEM and AFM. The nanohole diameters are nearly linearly reduced with increasing plasma-treatment time (t). The reduction rate (δ) for the conditions of this work was evaluated to be ~ 0.92 nm/s. The period (Λ) and filling factor (η) of PCs are structure parameters that determine their photonic bandgaps (PBGs). η-modulation can be easily achieved via a control of t and the Λ can be also modulated by the use of PS spheres with specific diameter. In addition, the PBGs for the fabricated GST 2 D PC were calculated by considering the amorphous and crystalline states of GST .

In order to reduce the loss of Degree of Freedom (DOF) brought by the transmit subarray splitting of two-dimensional hybrid phased-MIMO radar, this paper presents a design method of transmitting and receiving array based on nested array structure. Firstly, a two-dimensional hybrid phased-MIMO radar transmitting array based on one-dimensional nested array is presented. On this basis, the receiving end is set as a nested array, and finally a virtual array and difference coarray are formed to expand the number of virtual array elements. The expansion increases the DOF of arrays while preserving the advantages of hybrid phased-MIMO radars. Simulation experiments show that compared with the traditional and coprime hybrid phased-MIMO radar, the proposed method can effectively improve the array DOF and Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) estimation accuracy.

A plasmonic filter applied in visible regime is proposed. A method using discrete dipole approximation (DDA) to aid design parameters of rhombic Ag nanoparticle array is adopted for the filter design and optimization on the basis of computational numerical calculation. Influence of the particle parameters such as thickness, period and effective index of medium around the particles on the extinction spectrum is studied using the DDA-based computational analysis. The calculation results show that the thickness ranging from 35 to 45 nm and the period ranging from 350 to 560 nm are the better geometrical parameters of the rhombic Ag nanoparticle array. Considering the nano-fabrication condition, 40 nm thickness and 440 nm period were selected and fabricated using nanosphere lithography (NSL) technique. The experimental results demonstrated that the measured spectrum is basically in agreement with the theoretical spectrum derived by the DDA calculation.
