A model was presented for linear susceptibility in ladder-plus-Y configuration of double quantum dot system using density matrix theory and including spontaneously generated coherence of Λ-type system. Wetting layer and quantum dot inhomogeneity were considered in the calculations, which gives a practical description of double quantum dot structures well. With increasing spontaneously generated coherence from Λ-component, the dispersion was increased and shifted under spontaneously generated coherence. The inclusion of wetting layer under spontaneously generated coherence increases gain which coincides with the published results. A possibility of slow light was predicted.

We investigate spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) and Autler–Townes Splitting (ATS) in various three-level systems. Through detailed analytical calculations on absorption spectrum of probe laser field, we show that in V-type system the SGC can completely eliminate the absorption of the probe field and at the same time significantly reduce the group velocity. By using residue theorem and spectrum decomposition method, we prove that there exists a crossover from SGC to ATS for both cold and warm atoms when the magnitude of SGC is changed. Different contributions of SGC and ATS to probe-field absorption spectrum are clearly clarified in different parameter regions. In addition, our results show that there is no SGC and hence no SGC-ATS crossover in Λ- and Ξ-type systems.

AbstractOwing to interference induced by spontaneous emission, the density-matrix equations in a three-level Λ-type system have an additional coherence term, which plays a critical role in modulating the inversionless gain and electromagnetically induced transparency effect. In addition, it is shown that spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) has an effect on the entanglement between an atom and a photon of the coupling laser field by calculating the degree of entanglement (DEM) of the atomic system. In this paper, we investigate the influence of the SGC effect on atom-photon entanglement in a Λ-type system, which generally remains a high entangled state. When an incoherent pump source is introduced, we find that the SGC effect could exert considerable influence on the atom reduced entropy under certain conditions for both transient and steady states. More interestingly, such an incoherent pump field could actively affect the short-time dynamic behaviors of the transient quantum entangled state at a certain range of pump rate as a typical coherent case.
