The heat conductive silicone rubber is prepared with methy1 viny1 silicone rubber as basic gum and SiCp (SiC particle), SiCp/SiCw (SiC whisker), graphite as heat conductive fillers. The effects of filler amount, filler shape, filler size and coupling agent on the thermal conductivity of silicone rubber have been studied in this article. The result shows that when the filling amount is increasing, the thermal conductivity of composite silicone rubber will increase too. There is no evident change for thermal conductivity with the small filling fraction, while the filling amount reaches a certain value, the thermal conductivity of composite increases obviously. Moreover, the thermal conductivity added with coupling agent (KH-602) is higher than that of composite without coupling agent addition.

Through the preparation of conductive silicone rubber samples, and the study of its electrical characteristics, this paper expounds the conductive silicone rubber composites relationship between the resistance and applied pressure. It discusses the main influencing factors of the piezoresistive effect. It studies conductive silicone rubber in four different conductive particles as well as the piezoresistive behavior of blending with a variety of fillers. It analyzes conductive silicone rubber samples after adding nanometer material of the piezoresistive properties. The study shows that blending with a variety of appropriate fillers material can improve the linearity of the piezoresistive relationship of the conductive silicon rubber and effectively expand the resistance variable range.

In this study, a thixotropic agent was applied to improve the aspect ratio of the silicone rubber gasket and the resulting obtained through modification showed an increase in aspect ratio from 0.26 to 0.91 with the relative to the gasket without thixotropic agent. Compared with the silicone rubber without thixotropic agent, the mechanical properties of the silicone rubber with thixotropic agent were discussed and the results revealed that the shift was very small. In addition, using Ag-coated Cu dendritic powder as conductive fillers, conductive silicone rubber with the resistivity (0.004Ω·cm) was prepared comparable to the relative commercial products can be used for electro-magnetic interference (EMI). The reliability of the conductive composites under aging at 85°C and 85% room humidity (RH) in a temperature/humidity chamber for 48 h was also discussed and the results showed that the shift of the volume resistivity was almost negligible which can meet the actual needs completely.

In this study, three types of silicone rubbers, namely, insulative silicone rubber, conductive silicone rubber and silicone rubber with conductive as well as insulative layers are investigated for their compatibility with mineral oil. Mineral oil with different silicone rubber samples is thermally aged at 130 °C for 360 h, 720 h and 1080 h and at 23 °C, 98 °C and 130 °C for 360 h. At the end of each ageing interval, mineral oil and oil-impregnated silicone rubbers are investigated for their dielectric properties. Aged mineral oil samples are investigated for their moisture content, breakdown voltage, colour number, dissolved gases and total acid number, whereas solid insulation samples are investigated for their moisture content. Additionally, pressboard samples in mineral oil and mineral oil without any solid insulation materials are also aged under the same conditions and are investigated for their dielectric properties. From the obtained results, it can be assessed that the presence of carbon particles in conductive silicone rubber negatively impacts the dielectric properties of mineral oil. Among the investigated silicone rubbers, the insulative silicone rubber exhibits good compatibility with mineral oil and a strong potential for being used in mineral oil.

In this paper, electrically conductive composites comprised of silicone rubber and titanium diboride (TiB2) were synthesized by conventional mixing methods. Fine particles of TiB2 (in micron size) and 10 parts per hundred parts of rubber (phr) proportion of carbon black (XC-72) were used to make the composites with HTV silicone rubber. The composites were cured at appropriate temperature and pressure and the effect on the electrical properties was studied. The resistance of the silicone rubber is ~ 1015Ω which decreases to 1–2 kΩ in case of composites with negligible effect of heat ageing. The hardness increases by ~ 35% simultaneous to the decrease of ~ 47% in the tensile strength. Morphological characterization indicates the homogeneous dispersion of the fillers in the composite.

A method for measurement of changes in lumen diameter of the oviduct has been developed. Miniature intraluminal “doughnut-shaped” transducers, 1.0–1.2 mm in diameter, constructed from conductive silicone rubber are implanted in the rabbit isthmus and respond to localized changes--increases or decreases--in lumen diameter. Multiple transducer implants in the same tube permit rate as well as direction of contractions to be determined. A custom-designed, micropower dual-channel telemetry system was fabricated to record motility from unrestrained animals. Typical data collected using this system to determine the effects of induced ovulation on instantaneous changes in lumen diameter are presented.
