AbstractIn this review essay, Thomas Berry's The Great Work is contextualized within Berry's overarching cosmological project. Special attention is paid to Berry's critique of economic corporations, as well as his interpretation of globalization and his assessment of an alleged decline of the nation state, claims that run counter to certain contemporary social scientific research offering more complex depictions of such phenomena. The critique of democracy in Berry's work, and its potential implications, is also critically addressed.

Abstract A discussion of early contributions on ecological spirituality, such as “rediscovering the Gospel of the Earth” (Tom Hayden), “telling a New Universe Story” (Thomas Berry) and “religion as roots and wings” (Jay McDaniel), serves as sounding board for the much earlier pneumatological reflections on humanity and nature by the Dutch scholar, A.A. van Ruler. In his Trinitarian theology, Van Ruler explored ways of overcoming dualism in Christianity and countering spiritless definitions of reality in science. Christology and ‘incarnation’ need supplementation by Pneumatology and indwelling’ of God’s Spirit in humanity and nature to eschatologically properly integrate ‘all things’ in God’s ecology.

Holy Bible holds the idea that it is a prophetic vision of the selected prophets of many centuries ago. In general the readers are lighting on anthropocentricism and accordingly this book is meant to teach lessons for the humans and for their salvation. In order to get that from God, a man has to keep God’s commandment and that focuses on the valuable part of human life. By not in a theological and in a humanitarian, then in an ecological perspective it also penetrates the role and functions of nature that exists in men. Thomas Berry, an eco-critic gives the readers a kind of a new interdependence, that might help the ultimate creation split into three types of energy consciousness. That also brings out patriarchal idea of Thomas Berry. Science and Technology also have a part in his new interdependence. This paper deals about the realisation of the hidden ecological teachings of Bible for the humans.
