AbstractWe have recently presented a novel method for a complete thermoelectric characterization [J. de Boor, V. Schmidt. Adv. Mater. 22:4303, (2010)]. This method is based on the well-known electrical van der Pauw method and allows measurement of the electrical and thermal conductivity, the Seebeck coefficient and the thermoelectric figure of merit. After a short review of this method we will discuss the systematic measurement errors of the method. It turns out that radiative heat loss can affect the thermal conductivity measurement significantly. We will give a simple estimation for the relative error due to radiation losses and discuss error minimizing strategies.

Non-performance loan ratio is one of the important assessment criteria of the security of credit assets. It is also an important financial indicator to evaluate the general strength of commercial banks. Using principal component analysis method and statistical software SPSS16.0 and based on the non-performance loan ratio and relative data of some commercial banks in China in 2007, this paper provided a principal component analysis model for the non-performance loan ratio of China’s commercial banks. The factors that affect the non-performance loan ratio were refined in this paper. Finally, the characteristics of effect factors of each bank were analyzed and compared in detail.

The purpose of surveys of amoebae or other organisms is the estimation of the carrier rate in a population, that is, of the proportion of persons who carry a given parasite. As a rule, the tests do not infallibly detect the presence of the organism in a known carrier. Thus simple estimation from a single examination of each member of a sample is not applicable.

Difference between adsorption of benzene by diatomite and nano-TiO2immobilized on diatomite was investigated. And effects of temperature, light intensity, relative humidity, and initial benzene concentration on adsorption and degradation of benzene by nano-TiO2immobilized on diatomite were also studied. The experimental results showed that when initial benzene concentration was2.2×10−3 mg L−1, it could be degraded to below safe concentration (1.1×10−4 mg L−1) after 50 h when temperature was 20°C, but it just needed 30 h at 35°C. When light intensity was 6750 Lx, it needed 30 h for benzene to be degraded to below safe concentration, but benzene could barely be degraded without light. When relative humidity was 50%, benzene could be degraded to1.0×10−4 mg L−1after 30 h, while its concentration could be reduced to7.0×10−5 mg L−1at the relative humidity of 80%.
