The current Spanish language has a verbal phrase born at the beginning of the XX century (hacerse el jaraquiri), whose nominal component is a Japanese loanword, jaraquiri. This article intends to carry out, for the first time in our language, an exhaustive study on this construction, which is not only typical of Spanish, but also of other languages: its morphology, its combinatory, its use, and its dialectal and historical characteristics.

Digital news publishers strive to balance revenue streams in their business models: as standard advertising declines, alternatives for sustaining digital journalism arise in the forms of sponsored content, user donations and payments—one-off purchases, subscriptions or memberships, public or private grants, electronic commerce, events and consulting. An exhaustive study found 2874 active online news publications in Spain, and it observed the adoption of such models in early 2021. Advertising remains the most popular source of income for digital news operations (85.8%) and most sites rely on just one or two revenue streams (74.5%). We compare the cases in our census by their origin (digital-native or non-native), geography (local/regional or national/global) and topic scope (generalist or specialized). We find that traditional, national and specialized online media have a broader and more innovative revenue mix than digital-native, regional or local and general-interest news outlets. The comprehensiveness of this pioneering study sheds light for the first time on the risk that the lack of diversification and innovation in funding sources may imperil the financial sustainability of some online news operations in Spain, mostly those with a smaller scope and no backing from a traditional business, according to the results we present here.

The present study demonstrates the application of modern methods for analysis of acquired knowledge of interlingual transfer at grammatical and semantic level of the temporal systems in indicative mood in modern Bulgarian, English and Spanish. The basic experiment, conducted for the first time in Bulgarian linguistics, consists of two parts and aims to check in a comparative way the degree of acquisition of the temporal categories in English and Spanish by native Bulgarian students. The experiment consists of contrastive examples in declarative affirmative sentences, which illustrate their use. The analysis of the results of the acquired knowledge of transfer from a native to a foreign language is a basis for refining the work of the teacher in the field of grammar.

This essay aims to contribute to comparative literature, working from the field of drama theory. Its hypothesis is that El tintero, by the Spanish playwright Carlos Muñiz and performed for the first time in 1961, adheres to the theoretical and creative principles formulated by the Expressionism of the early decades of 20th Century German drama. An application of Expressionist dramatic theories is carried out in the comparative analysis of Muñiz’s play and Ernst Toller’s work Hinkemann (written by the German playwright in 1921-22). The paper focuses on the composition of the plays (constituted in Expresionist drama by the genre of tragedy) and it includes a description of the entity of the agonists and the dimensions of the tragic process. The conclusion suggests that both plays are Expressionist supradramas, as both are representations of conflicts between essential humanity and supra-real dehumanization.

After fourteen years of review, the expected update of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) has generated great controversy among psychiatrists and psychologists around the world. So far, it is known that the new version (DSM-5), officially presented for the first time in May 18 of this year as part of the annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), will be available in Spanish language at the beginning of 2014. However, the reviews and comments for and against the new version suggest that there is no consensus in the scientific community to address mental illness. Beyond the instructive of categorical diagnosis that has prevailed in previous versions and a good part of the new text, the dimensional proposal is articulated with the use of clinical subtypes, severity levels and the inclusion of transverse symptoms, which allow to have a deterioration or

The landscape is a complex concept that results from the interplay of nature, society and culture. It`s outlined, firstly, the geographical ideas, general concepts, perception and interpretation of Spanish landscape. For the first time, a new word is proposed for the Spanish language: “maresaje”, to make reference to the marine landscape or seascape. Therefore, this paper aims to highlight the interest of deep and valuable images about landscape and seascape coming from literature and painting for the construction of Spanish cultural identity.

Spain, during the fifteenth century, was very prolific in writers of verse, as a glance at the Cancioneros of Baena, Castillo, Estuñiga, and a number of other early collections, both printed and manuscript, will show. That these were not all poets by divine right, no one perhaps will gainsay, nor would the world have suffered any great loss, if much of their verse had disappeared forever. In the time of Don Juan II. (1407-1454), himself a poet, it seemed to have been considered a necessary accomplishment of every courtier to write poetry, and as the Spanish language falls into measure and rhyme at the slightest provocation, the practice of such an accomplishment was fraught with little difficulty. Still, despite what has been said above, there is a charm about much of the poetry in these Cancioneros that is undeniable, and among their poets many names occur that will always occupy an honorable place in the literature of Spain. With perhaps a few exceptions, the best poetry in these collections is found in the short lyrical pieces. They are often delightfully naive, but necessarily suffer from sameness, love being the theme of most of them, and even this may become wearisome. But there were also poets, though in much lesser number, who turned their thoughts to things spiritual. Of these, two of the most famous were the Marquis of Santillana, and his kinsman Fernan Perez de Guzman, some of whose religious poems are here published for the first time. They are among the best verses that he has written, and are very fairly illustrative of his style and ability as a poet.

Abstract Highly crystalline ZnFe1.98Sm0.01Gd0.01O4 nanoferrites were prepared by co-precipitation method for the first time. The nanoparticles were characterized using thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetry analysis (TGA and DSC), which shows the thermal behavior of the reagents mixture. XRD analysis confirms the formation of nanocrystalline ferrite phase with Fd3m space group, and the particle size was observed to be 11 nm . The FTIR reveals two based bands of absorption characterize the formation of the spinel structure. An exhaustive study of the magnetic properties, morphology, crystallinity and effects of co-doping Gd3 + and Sm3 + was presented in detail. The average crystallites size was observed to decrease for Gd3+ and Sm3+ co-doping. Magnetic measurements reveal weak ferrimagnetic behavior at low temperature and superparamagnetic at high temperature with a blocking temperature at 55 K.

Although the presence of annulate lamellae was noted in many cell types, including the rat spermatogenic cells, this structure was never reported in the Sertoli cells of any rodent species. The present report is based on a part of our project on the effect of torsion of the spermatic cord to the contralateral testis. This paper describes for the first time, the fine structural details of the annulate lamellae in the Sertoli cells of damaged testis from guinea pigs. One side of the spermatic cord of each of six Hartly strain adult guinea pigs was surgically twisted (540°) under pentobarbital anesthesia (1). Four months after induction of torsion, animals were sacrificed, testes were excised and processed for the light and electron microscopic investigations. In the damaged testis, the majority of seminiferous tubule contained a layer of Sertoli cells with occasional spermatogonia (Fig. 1). Nuclei of these Sertoli cells were highly pleomorphic and contained small chromatinic clumps adjacent to the inner aspect of the nuclear envelope (Fig. 2).

A new Zeiss TEM with an imaging Omega filter is a fully digitized, side-entry, 120 kV TEM/STEM instrument for materials science. The machine possesses an Omega magnetic imaging energy filter (see Fig. 1) placed between the third and fourth projector lens. Lanio designed the filter and a prototype was built at the Fritz-Haber-Institut in Berlin, Germany. The imaging magnetic filter allows energy-filtered images or diffraction patterns to be recorded without scanning using efficient area detection. The energy dispersion at the exit slit (Fig. 1) results in ∼ 1.5 μm/eV which allows imaging with energy windows of ≤ 10 eV. The smallest probe size of the microscope is 1.6 nm and the Koehler illumination system is used for the first time in a TEM. Serial recording of EELS spectra with a resolution < 1 eV is possible. The digital control allows X,Y,Z coordinates and tilt settings to be stored and later recalled.

Microstructural studies by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of diamond films grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) usually involve tedious specimen preparation. This process has been avoided with a technique that is described in this paper. For the first time, thick as-grown diamond films have been examined directly in a conventional TEM without thinning. With this technique, the important microstructures near the growth surface have been characterized. An as-grown diamond film was fractured on a plane containing the growth direction. It took about 5 min to prepare a sample. For TEM examination, the film was tilted about 30-45° (see Fig. 1). Microstructures of the diamond grains on the top edge of the growth face can be characterized directly by transmitted electron bright-field (BF) and dark-field (DF) images and diffraction patterns.
