AbstractAngilovelia n.gen. is described with Velia y-alba Paiva, 1918, from Burma as type-species and only included species. It has stridulatory devices similar to those found in species of the Neotropical genus Stridulivelia Hungerford. Three new species of Angilia Stål subgenus Adriennella Poisson are described, A. orientalis n.sp. (Thailand, Hong Kong), A. bispinosa n.sp. (Thailand), and A. trispinosa n.sp. (Malayan Peninsula?). The Palaearctic genus Velia Latreille reaches the border zone between this region and the Oriental region. V. (Plesiovelia) affinis Kolenati ssp. marussii Tamanini, described from Hindukush (Afghanistan, Pakistan), is here recorded from Kashmir (India) and the first species of the genus is described from China, V. (Haldwania) sinensis n.sp. A key is given to the genera and subgenera of Veliinae of the world.

A new genus, Fistulococcus Hodgson & Martin is introduced, to accommodate two new species of soft scale insect. All stages (except the pupa) of the type species, F. pokfulamensis from Gnetum luofuense (Gnetaceae) in Hong Kong, are described. All female stages, and the second-instar male, are described for F. intsiae from Intsia bijuga (Fabaceae, Caesalpinioideae) in Papua New Guinea. The structure of the dorsal chambered ducts is discussed in relation to the types of wax secreted. The relationship of Coccidae with plants in the Gymnospermae is discussed, as part of the account of F. pokfulamensis.

Abstract The poorly known sesarmid crab Sesarma (Holometopus) tangi Rathbun, 1931 was described from one male from Fujian, China, and was transferred to Neosarmatium Serène & Soh, 1970 by Schubart & Ng (2002). The collection of a good series of fresh specimens from near the type locality and Hong Kong allows us to reappraise its taxonomy. The new material shows that Sesarma tangi should be referred to its own genus, differing markedly from congeners in the detailed structure of its male and female chelae as well as in the form of the male first gonopods. This conclusion is strongly supported by genetic data.

The new genus Tirispora, with the single species Tirispora unicaudata, is described from an intertidal mangrove plant Acanthus ilicifolius in Hong Kong. The genus is compared with other genera with polar unfurling appendages: Aniptodera, Cucullosporella, Halosarpheia, Moana, Ophiodeira, and Trichomaris. Key words: ascus, Halosphaeriales, spore appendages, taxonomy, Tirispora gen.nov., ultrastructure.
