Technology Tips: Friendly Windows for Graphing Calculators
Keyword(s):
With the proliferation of graphing calculators in many secondary and college classrooms, teachers are confronted with questions about how to make the most of these tools for teaching and learning mathematics. One important process to understand is how to set the size of the viewing window so that it is “user friendly” for all levels of students. This type of window is called the friendly window because (1) it shows a visually correct graph and (2) it helps students make the connection between the graph and the numerical representation given by the Trace cursor by highlighting points on the graph that have friendly coordinates.
