Technological advances in high-performance computing and communications over the past decade have brought unprecedented power to the desktops of teachers and students. Within the past three years, the use of the World Wide Web-known as WWW, W3, or simply “the Web”—has increased dramatically with the advent of such software as NCSA Mosaic, Netscape, and Lynx. This software has led to an explosion of resources on the international information superhighway. These Web resources bold many possibilities for both students and teachers in secondary mathematics education by allowing new opportunities for collaboration, communication, and exploration.

Technological advances have now mastered several aspects, namely in the world of education, fashion, lifestyle and the world of architecture. For example libraries, in the past, libraries were seen from the number of books collected and also how big the library building was but for now all that has changed, libraries are now required to be able to follow the wishes of its users. In this case the users are the millennial generation who have characteristics that are close to technology, like convenience and are free-spirited. According to a survey from the Boston Consulting Group and the University of Berkley about the millennial generation, the conventional reading interest of millennials has decreased and they prefer to use smartphones to read and libraries are considered unimportant to them. The design of the Banjarbaru Millennial Library uses the Behavioral Architecture method and the Blurring Architecture concept. This design aims to create a library in accordance with the characteristics of millennials who like freedom by implementing this freedom into its buildings

In the eyes of literature, existentialist thinkers focus on the question of concrete human existence and the conditions of this existence rather than hypothesizing a human essence, stressing that the human essence is determined through life choices. The ideal, however, is that humans exist in a state of distance from the world that they nonetheless remain in the midst of. This distance is what enables humans to project meaning into the disinterested world of in-itselfs. This projected meaning remains fragile, constantly facing breakdown for any reason— from a tragedy to a particularly insightful moment. In such a breakdown, humans are put face to face with the naked meaninglessness of the world, and the results can be devastating. It is porposed that literature and the media combined have a powerful impact on those who wish to truly realize and understand their message. By studying, reading, learning, experiencing, and knowing the culture of the present and those cultures of the past then one can understand the ideas of life and how the two work together to help us better understand each other and ourselves. In what ways our present culture, our technological advances, and the media shape who we are as individuals is not a simple question. The answer seems to elusively hide in a world filled with cultural complexities. But, it is no secret to find that literature is a source of power. It does influence, guide, and shape the human become as they continue their journey through life. Hence, since human are never without the influence of literature, they will always have factors working to modify the human being. However, it is their choice as to how they internalize what they are exposed to, and in turn, it is up to them to determine the individual that ultimately prevails.

While much attention is currently being devoted to solving technological challenges of the Internet, for example increasing the bandwidth on existing narrowband network platforms to overcome bottlenecks, little attention appears to be given to the nontechnical aspects. This has been a mistake in the past as human resistance to, or incompetence during, the introduction of new Information Technology (IT) often caused Information Systems (IS) to fail. By focusing on a broad range of technical and nontechnical elements early in the adoption of Internet technology, we have the opportunity to avoid the mistakes made in the past. The Internet has given rise to electronic commerce (e-commerce) through the use of the World Wide Web (Web). E-commerce, by its nature, offers enormous possibilities but in an uncontrolled environment. Therefore, for e-commerce to be accepted, trust must be established as soon as interaction with a Web site begins. In the virtual environment of the Web trust has become even more important because the parties are not in physical proximity. There are no handshakes or body language to be observed when closing a deal. Furthermore, jurisdiction is unclear. Developments on a global scale are required that provide assurance that e-commerce can be conducted in a ‘trusting’ manner.

The World Wide Web (WWW) has led to the advent of the information age. With increased demand for information from various quarters, the Web has turned out to be a veritable resource. Web surfers in the early days were frustrated by the delay in finding the information they needed. The first major leap for information retrieval came from the deployment of Web search engines such as Lycos, Excite, AltaVista, etc. The rapid growth in the popularity of the Web during the past few years has led to a precipitous pronouncement of death for the online services that preceded the Web in the wired world.

Abstract A high-performance computing environment, also known as a supercomputing environment, e-Science environment or cyberinfrastructure, is a crucial system that connects users’ applications to supercomputers, and provides usability, efficiency, sharing, and collaboration capabilities. This review presents important lessons drawn from China's nationwide efforts to build and use a high-performance computing environment over the past 20 years (1995–2015), including three observations and two open problems. We present evidence that such an environment helps to grow China's nationwide supercomputing ecosystem by orders of magnitude, where a loosely coupled architecture accommodates diversity. An important open problem is why technology for global networked supercomputing has not yet become as widespread as the Internet or Web. In the next 20 years, high-performance computing environments will need to provide zettaflops computing capability and 10 000 times better energy efficiency, and support seamless human-cyber-physical ternary computing.

High Performance Computing architectures have become incredibly complex and exploiting their full potential is becoming more and more challenging. As a consequence, automatic performance tuning (autotuning) of HPC applications is of growing interest and many research groups around the world are currently involved. Autotuning is still a rapidly evolving research field with many different approaches being taken. This special issue features selected papers presented at the Dagstuhl seminar on “Automatic Application Tuning for HPC Architectures” in October 2013, which brought together researchers from the areas of autotuning and performance analysis in order to exchange ideas and steer future collaborations.

At present, along with the dynamic development of computer technology in the world, the most effective ways of solving problems of practical importance are being considered. High performance computing takes the lead in this. Therefore, the development of modern society is closely related to the training of experienced, modern specialists in the field of information technology. This, in turn, depends on the inclusion of new courses in the curriculum and full coverage of these issues in the content of the taught courses. This article analyzes the courses on high performance computing, taught at experimental bases and abroad, on the basis of this, the topics of the special course and the content recommended for implementation in the educational process are determined. During the training, the competencies of students in high performance computing were identified.
