Sexual attraction towards animals disorder: Diagnostic classification based on a systematic review Abstract: Sexual intercourse between humans and animals has existed since the dawn of humanity in every place and culture of the world. Nevertheless, this issue has been scarcely approached by science. Given the wide differences in behavior and preferences among people who practice sex with animals, it is necessary to establish a subtypes classification. For this purpose, a systematic review of investigations was carried out that allowed us to select 26 empirical studies. Their analysis permitted to describe the group of Sexual Attraction Towards Animals disorder, comprising four differentiated disorders: (1) zoophilic disorder, (2) bestiality disorder, (3) sexual zoosadism, and (4) sexual attraction disorder towards animals due to medical or substance-induced illness. Additionally, the diagnostic criteria for each are proposed. Implications and limitations are discussed, as well as the value of having a classification of these disorders and the need to incorporate their study in the academic field. Keywords: Bestiality; disorders; paraphilias; zoophilia; zoosadism. Resumen: Las relaciones sexuales entre humanos y animales han existido desde los albores de la humanidad en todos los lugares y culturas del mundo. Sin embargo, han sido abordadas escasamente por la ciencia. Dadas las amplias diferencias en las conductas y preferencias entre quienes practican sexo con animales, se hace necesario establecer una clasificación de subtipos. Con ese propósito, se realizó una revisión sistemática de investigaciones que arrojó 26 estudios empíricos. El análisis de estos permitió describir el grupo de Trastornos por atracción sexual hacia animales, comprendiendo cuatro trastornos diferenciados: (1) trastorno zoofílico, (2) trastorno por bestialidad, (3) zoosadismo sexual, y (4) trastorno por atracción sexual hacia los animales debido a enfermedad médica o inducido por sustancias. Adicionalmente, se propusieron criterios diagnósticos para cada uno. Se discuten las implicancias y limitaciones, el valor de contar una clasificación de estos trastornos y la necesidad de incorporar su estudio en el ámbito académico. Palabras clave: Bestialismo; parafilias; trastornos; zoofilia; zoosadismo.

Abstract Introduction Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is the most common gastrointestinal neoplasm in the world, accounting for 15% of cancer-related deaths. This condition is related to different molecular pathways, among them the recently described serrated pathway, whose characteristic entities, serrated lesions, have undergone important changes in their names and diagnostic criteria in the past thirty years. The multiplicity of denominations and criteria over the last years may be responsible for the low interobserver concordance (IOC) described in the literature. Objectives The present study aims to describe the evolution in classification of serrated lesions, based on the last three publications of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the reproducibility of these criteria by pathologists, based on the evaluation of the IOC. Methods A search was conducted in the PubMed, ResearchGate and Portal Capes databases, with the following terms: sessile serrated lesion; serrated lesions; serrated adenoma; interobserver concordance; and reproducibility. Articles published since 1990 were researched. Results and Discussion The classification of serrated lesions in the past thirty years showed different denominations and diagnostic criteria. The reproducibility and IOC of these criteria in the literature, based on the kappa coefficient, varied in most studies, from very poor to moderate. Conclusions Interobserver concordance and the reproducibility of microscopic criteria may represent a limitation for the diagnosis and appropriate management of these lesions. It is necessary to investigate diagnostic tools to improve the performance of the pathologist's evaluation, for better concordance, and, consequently, adequate diagnosis and treatment.

Pictorial symbols have multiple layers of meaning: not only do they represent objects, events and ideas about the world, they also represent the intentions of artists as well as other artist attributes (age, skill, originality and knowledge, mood, style and sentience). Although children’s developmental milestones of pictorial understanding have been the subject of a long-standing debate, their understanding of the relation between artists and pictures has often been neglected. The aim of this article was to conduct a systematic review on children’s and adolescents’ understanding of the relation between artists and pictures. PsycINFO and Web of Science databases were searched for English, Spanish, German, and Italian language empirical studies that examined this link in 2- to 18-year- olds. Forty-two citations (64 studies) from 14 different countries met the inclusion criteria. Results revealed the majority of the studies focused on the understanding of the artist’s intention. Although research on children’s and adolescents’ understanding of other attributes is scarce, and there were inconsistencies across the methodologies used, it seems that they first acknowledge intention and only later become more aware of how artist’s attributes are communicated through intention. The results of the review encourage subsequent research to provide a clearer conceptualised model of child and adolescent understanding of the artist-picture relationship. Such a model should be placed within a wider framework of the network of relationship between the artist, picture, world and beholder. Finally, consideration of how the development of understanding the artist-picture relationship is bi-directionally influenced with other developmental milestones in the child psychology is encouraged, particularly picture-production and theory of mind, and variations in atypical populations.

The aim is to accept this most rational and quantitative classification of climates widely accepted all over the world. Like in all other languages the present Croatian terminology is confused. This is the reason why we accepted the original Köppen's terms.

BackgroundThe nosological status of olfactory reference syndrome (ORS) is a matter of debate and there is uncertainty as to what treatments are effective.MethodThe world literature was searched for reports of cases of ORS. Clinical, nosological and therapeutic information from cases meeting proposed diagnostic criteria for the disorder was summarized and tabulated.ResultsA total of 84 case reports (52 male/32 female) were found. Age of onset was <20 years in almost 60% of cases. Smell-related precipitating events were recorded in 42%. Most patients could not smell the smell or only did so intermittently. Authors of the reports expressed reservations about the delusional nature of the belief in slightly under half of the cases. Over two-thirds were improved or recovered at follow-up, with the disorder responding to antidepressants and psychotherapy more frequently than to neuroleptics.ConclusionsORS is a primary psychiatric syndrome that does not fit well into its current classification as a subtype of delusional disorder, both in terms of its nosology and its response to treatment.

Este estudo teve por objetivo analisar dentro da produção literária como a Educomunicação está sendo trabalhada em artigos científicos nas áreas da Educação e da Comunicação e ainda, se suas bases teóricas discutem os pressupostos da Prática Pedagógica Educomunicativa. O estudo é uma revisão sistemática em bases importantes na área da Educação e da Comunicação com os descritores Educomunicação e Práticas Pedagógicas Educomunicativas em Português, Inglês e Espanhol. Foram selecionados seis artigos para análise e os itens investigados foram: base de dados, título do artigo, autor e ano, objetivo, método, base teórica, pressupostos da Prática Pedagógica Educomunicativa e contribuições. Conclui-se que todos os artigos discutem e abordam em seus estudos um ou mais pressupostos da Prática Pedagógica Educomunicativa, embora o conceito não apareça com essa terminologia em nenhum dos trabalhos analisados.Palavras-chave: Educomunicação.   El objetivo de este trabajo fue realizar una revisión sistemática de los métodos empleados en la valoración clínica del segmento anterior del ojo y de sus anexos en lámpara de hendidura. En la metodología se revisaron artículos científicos publicados entre 2003 y 2018, en las bases de datos electrónicas: Scopus. Cochrane, EBSCOhost, ProQuest y Google Scholar, mediante las palabras clave: lámpara de hendidura, slit lamp, biomicroscopia, valoración clínica del segmento anterior en los buscadores: MeSH, DeCS y de texto libre que las incluyeran. Se identificaron 39 textos relacionados, dentro de los cuales 20 fueron incluidos por evidenciar descripción de técnicas de exploración, más no métodos de exploración que incluyeran el uso de la lámpara de hendidura. Se evidenció la publicación de textos que describen o proponen técnicas de exploración, más no métodos que la estandarice, por lo que se hace necesario la realización de estudios que planteen métodos de exploración clínica que puedan proponer un orden a dicho proceso, para evitar pasar por alto algún hallazgo clínico importante en el segmento anterior del ojo o de sus anexos.   Palabras clave: Biomicroscopio/biomicroscopía ocular, exploración/examen/valoración de la superficie ocular/segmento anterior del ojo.   Abstract The purpose of this paper is a systematic review of methods used in the clinical assessment of the anterior segment of the eye and its annexes in a slit lamp. In the methodology, scientific articles published between 2003 and 2018 were reviewed in the electronic databases: Cochrane, EBSCOhost, ProQuest, and Google Scholar, with the keywords: slit lamp, slit lamp, Bio microscopy, clinical assessment of the previous segment in the search engines: MeSH, DeCS, and free text that included them. The search found 39 related texts, 20 included for evidencing description of exploration techniques, but not exploration methods that included the use of the slit lamp. The literature reviewed evidence texts that describe or propose exploration techniques, but not methods that standardize it. From the review of the information found, it is necessary to carry out studies that raise clinical exploration methods that can propose an order to this process, to avoid overlooking any significant clinical finding in the anterior segment of the eye or its annexes.   Keywords: Ocular biomicroscope/biomicroscopy, guide(s) anterior segment exploration/assessment ocular surface exploration/assessment grading scales.

El Traumatismo Cráneo Encefálico (TCE) representa un serio problema de salud pública que requiere un manejo hospitalario adecuado. En los últimos años se ha podido comprobar que la nutrición enteral temprana mejora el pronóstico del paciente con TCE; sin embargo, son escasos los estudios donde se muestran las experiencias relacionadas con el soporte nutricional en este tipo de pacientes. El propósito del presente estudio fue realizar una revisión sistemática de ensayos clínicos de nutrición enteral en pacientes con TCE, para evaluar la eficacia nutricional, su efecto en la morbilidad, mortalidad y días de estancia hospitalaria. Se llevó a cabo una búsqueda electrónica de estudios realizados en los últimos diez años en bases de datos MEDLINE/PubMed, EBSCO, Elsevier, Cochrane library, con las siguientes palabras clave: “Traumatic brain injury, enteral nutrition, nutritional support, nutritional care of TBI, nutrición enteral, traumatismo cráneo encefálico, alimentación enteral, alimentación enteral temprana y tardía”. Se analizaron 8 estudios, en los cuales se evaluó la eficacia de la nutrición enteral temprana (NET) versus la tardía (NETA), inicio de la nutrición, suministro de calorías, complicaciones y días de estancia hospitalaria en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI). Se concluye que la NET ha mostrado ventajas importantes en la evolución de los pacientes con TCE, entre las que se pueden mencionar la disminución de la morbi-mortalidad y la reducción de la estancia hospitalaria en la UCI.

La capacidad aeróbica ha sido ampliamente estudiada a lo largo de los años, debido a su relación con la condición física, el rendimiento deportivo y la salud. Para la evaluación de la misma, un instrumento ampliamente utilizado es el test Course Navette, quecalcula de manera indirecta el consumo máximo de oxígeno. El objetivo de este estudio fue conocer el panorama actual del nivel de capacidad aeróbica en escolares de Educación Primaria, determinado a través del test Course Navette. Se realizó una revisión sistemática sobre estudios transversales llevados a cabo en todo el mundo, que evaluaron mediante el test Course Navette la capacidad aeróbica en escolares de Educación Primaria. En total, 19 estudios fueron incluidos en la revisión. La mayoría de los estudios muestran que los niños y niñas de primaria de diferentes países tienen una capacidad cardiorrespiratoria considerada como saludable. No obstante, las medias encontradas no son lo suficientemente eminentes, donde la volatilidad entre participantes resulta elevada. Por ello, es necesario mejorar los niveles de capacidad física en escolares, como un factor de importancia capital para el mantenimiento y optimización de la salud; especialmente, entre aquellos que se encuentran por debajo de los umbrales definidos para el riesgo cardiovascular. Aerobic capacity has been extensively studied over the years because of its relationship to fitness, sports performance, and health. For its evaluation, a widely used instrument is the Course Navette test, which indirectly calculates the maximum oxygen consumption. The objective of this study was to know the current panorama of the level of aerobic capacity in primary school children, determined through the Course Navette test. A systematic review was carried out on transversal studies carried out all over the world, which evaluated aerobic capacity in primary school children by means of the Course Navette test. A total of 19 studies were included in the review. Most studies show that primary school children in different countries have a cardiorespiratory capacity that is not considered a health risk. However, the averages found are not eminent enough, where volatility among participants is high. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the levels of physical capacity in schoolchildren, as a factor of capital importance for the maintenance and optimization of health, especially among those who are below the thresholds defined for cardiovascular risk.

Purpose:To review how the Multidimensional Assessment of Fatigue (MAF) has been used and evaluate its psychometric properties.Methods:We conducted a database search using “multidimensional assessment of fatigue” or “MAF” as key terms from 1993 to 2015, and located 102 studies.Results:Eighty-three were empirical studies and 19 were reviews/evaluations. Research was conducted in 17 countries; 32 diseases were represented. Nine language versions of the MAF were used. The mean of the Global Fatigue Index ranged from 10.9 to 49.4. The MAF was reported to be easy-to-use, had strong reliability and validity, and was used in populations who spoke languages other than English.Conclusion:The MAF is an acceptable assessment tool to measure fatigue and intervention effectiveness in various languages, diseases, and settings across the world.
