Introduction: In the overall strategy of developing the optimal treatment of patients after COVID-19 infection, recommended by the World Health Organization, rehabilitation plays one of the key roles in improving the functional capacity of these patients and thus their quality of life. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of cardiovascular training during post-acute rehabilitation on the functional capacity of patients after moderate COVID-19 pneumonia. Methods: The prospective study included 84 patients of both sexes, mean age 57.92 ± 11.79 years, who were hospitalised at the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation ''Dr Miroslav Zotović'' Banja Luka due to moderate pneumonia caused by the COVID-19 virus and after they finished acute rehabilitation. All patients underwent cardiovascular training three times per week and occupational therapy during 28 days of stationary post-acute rehabilitation. The follow-up parameter was a six-minute walk (6-MWT) test at admission and discharge from post-acute rehabilitation. Student t-test for paired samples was used for statistical analysis, and the value of p < 0.05 was taken as statistical significance. Results: The functional capacity of the cardiovascular and respiratory system was statistically significantly improved at discharge compared to admission (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Targeted cardiovascular training during post-acute rehabilitation leads to improvement of functional capacities of patients after moderate COVID-19 pneumonia.

ABSTRACT Objective To verify correlations between age, injury severity, length of stay (LOS), cognition, functional capacity and quality of life (QOL) six months after hospital discharge (HD) of victims of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Method 50 patients consecutively treated in a Brazilian emergency hospital were assessed at admission, HD and six months after HD. The assessment protocol consisted in Abbreviated Injury Scale, Injury Severity Score, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), Revised Trauma Score (RTS), Mini Mental Test, Barthel Index and World Health Organization QOL - Brief. Results Strong negative correlation was observed between LOS and GCS and LOS and RTS. An almost maximal correlation was found between RTS and GCS and functional capacity and GCS at HD. Age and LOS were considered independent predictors of QOL. Conclusion Age and LOS are independent predictors of QOL after moderate to severe TBI.

Introduction: Health of the working population is a prerequisite for successful general economic development and improvement of labor productivity and the quality of life of workers. According to the World Health Organization, most countries lose 4 to 6 % of their gross national product due to health problems related to poor working conditions. Our objective was to analyze the relationship between subjective characteristics of health of the working population (self-rated health status, the presence of chronic diseases, frequency and severity of diseases, and days lost due to sickness) and conditions and nature of their work (occupation, physical activity at work). Materials and methods: The study was based on data of a regular stage of sociological monitoring of physical health of the population in the Vologda Region carried out by the Vologda Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2018. The statistical significance of the relationships was estimated using descriptive statistics (a method of multivariate analysis) using tools of the SPSS software package. Results: We found that the best self-rated health status was reported by the respondents satisfied with their working conditions, having little physical activity or walking in the workplace. The worst self-rated health status was reported by those dissatisfied with their working conditions, engaged in unskilled physical labor or sedentary work. It is extremely important to introduce the system of monitoring employee assessments of working conditions and health status using questionnaire-based surveys, to apply and disseminate the most effective health-saving techniques in the workplace taking into account the importance of psychological comfort.

The Glittre ADL-test (TGlittre) has been designed and validated to measure functional capacity during daily living activities in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) but is now used in several other situations. The aim of this study was to evaluate the applicability of TGlittre in a sample of overweight and obese eutrophic elderly. This was an experimental and cross-sectional study, which included 21 elderly women, allocated by BMI, in eutrophic (n = 8), overweight (n = 6) and obese (n = 7) groups. They were assessed for functional capacity (TGlittre and 6MWT), quality of life (QOL) with the questionnaire World Health Organization Quality of Life for Older People (WHOQOL-OLD) and handgrip strength (HGS). TGlittre correlated with age (p = 0.0040) and with 6MWT (p = 0.0086), but no statistical difference was found in TGlittre's performance time and the distance covered in 6MWT between groups. TGlittre did not correlate with HGS (p = 0.1493) and WHOQOL-Old (p = 0.0905). The data obtained in the present study corroborate that TGlittre is used as a functional measurement variable in the elderly population. Keywords: aged, obesity, exercise intolerance.

In Rajasthan state the ground waters of some areas like Ramganj-mandi, Morak, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Chittor and Udaipur etc. are susceptible from drinking point of view.To test the quality of groundwater in Chittor district 14, ground water samples were collected from various places and analyzed for pH, E.C., Fluoride and Nitrate parameters by standard methods (A.P.H. A., Washington, USA, 1995). The study revealed that none of the ground waters was found suitable completely from drinking point of view. Some are having electrical conductivity > 1.4 dS/m, some are having pH >8.5, some area having fluoride >1.5 ppm and some are having nitrate>45 ppm. These are the limits of various parameters permitted by various International authorities like Bureau of Indian Standard, Indian Council of Medical Research, world health Organization etc. for drinking waters. So, it is recommended to the residents of above areas to use water for drinking purpose only after reverse osmosis or adopting suitable method of removing excess of Fluoride and Nitrate for drinking water to avoid unwanted pathogenic diseases harmful for human health.

Abstract Background The growing rates of obesity in developing countries are alarming. There is a paucity of evidence about disparities of obesity in Lesotho. This study examined socioeconomic and area-based inequalities in obesity among non-pregnant women in Lesotho. Methods Data were extracted from the 2004, 2009 and 2014 Lesotho Demographic and Health Surveys (LDHS) and analyzed through the recently updated Health Equity Assessment Toolkit (HEAT) of the World Health Organization. Obesity prevalence was disaggregated by four equity stratifiers, namely education, wealth, residence and sub-national region. For each equity stratifier, simple and complex as well as relative and absolute summary measures were calculated. A 95% confidence interval was used to measure statistical significance of findings. Results We noticed substantial wealth-driven (D = -21.10, 95% CI; − 25.94, − 16.26), subnational region (PAR = -11.82, 95%CI; − 16.09, − 7.55) and urban-rural (− 9.82, 95% CI; − 13.65, − 5.99) inequalities in obesity prevalence without the inequalities improved over time in all the studied years. However, we did not identify educational inequality in obesity. Conclusions Wealth-driven and geographical inequalities was identified in Lesotho in all the studied time periods while education related inequalities did not appear during the same time period. All population groups in the country need to be reached with interventions to reduce the burden of obesity in the country.
