Modern studies show that children and adolescents represent the population of users who spend the most time online and that are significantly more exposed to risk behaviors, mostly in cyberbullying. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to determine the effectiveness and frequency of using restrictive strategies in parental control over a child's online activities. The survey sample contains 183 first and fourth grade high school students answering questions about parental monitoring and cyberbullying. Parental monitoring was examined by a short questionnaire consisted of several categorical questions, while the Cyber Victim and Bullying Scale was used to examine cyberbullying. The results of this study show that parents infrequently use restrictive strategies in monitoring child's internet use. Parents use their strategies mostly to avoid child's chatting with strangers (51.9%) and leaving personal information on the Internet (35.5%), while certain parents have a password of the devices that child uses to access the Internet (37.2%). Only one in five parents limit access to certain websites, while one in ten limit amount of time their teen can go online. The final analysis showed that there is no statistically significant association of restrictive strategies in parental control and digital violence. Parental control can become a significant role in preventing and reducing digital violence in adolescents, but it is necessary to direct parents to make decisions about online rules of conduct in agreement with children and in accordance with their activities and encourage them to use other, adequate parental control strategies.

This study sought to determine whether self-efficacy for a conventional lifestyle mediated the relationship between parental control/support and offspring delinquency using longitudinal data supplied by 2,252 (1,145 boys, 1,107 girls) high school students surveyed in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. The results of a three-regression negative binomial analysis revealed that self-efficacy for a conventional lifestyle mediated the relationships between Wave 1 parental monitoring and attachment, on one hand, and Wave 3 delinquency, on the other hand. Comparison pathways mediated by self-efficacy for deviance, consistent with predictions, did not achieve significance. These results indicate that a social cognitive variable, self-efficacy for a conventional lifestyle, may be partially responsible for the delinquency-inhibiting effects of parental control (monitoring) and support (attachment).

This article explores how the Internet and social networks can become the source of conflicts in the family sphere. The influence of the Internet on family life is analyzed, examining the concerns and needs when it comes to education in the digital world. A non-experimental quantitative study was carried out using the survey method. 1144 high school students from the city of A Coruña participated, all of them Internet and social media users. 76% of those surveyed state that their parents do not forbid them anything when they surf on the Net. The main actions that parents prevent their sons and daughters from doing include making online purchases, giving personal information and sending emails to strangers. It was also identified that 49% of minors argue with their parents about using the Internet. Likewise, it was found that women, in contrast to men, affirm that their family cares more about the type of content they access, as well as the contacts included on their social networks. It is necessary for parents to become aware of the importance of educating their children in a responsible use of technology. In this sense, acquiring adequate digital education within the family is key to minimizing conflicts, as well as preventing and becoming aware of the risks derived from an inappropriate use of the Internet and social networks.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between attitudes towards physical activity and self-esteem of high school students. Three different scales were used on 626 adolescents in total who lived in Sivas, found by random sampling method. The first scale is “the Personal Information Scale” consisting of 6 items to determine the demographical characteristics of the participants; the second scale is “the Cognitive Behavioral Physical Activity Questionnaire (CBPA)”, which was developed by Schembre et al. (2015) and was adapted to Turkish by Eskiler et al. (2016) to determine the participants’ attitudes towards physical activity; and the last scale is “the Self-Esteem Scale” by Rosenberg (1965) and adapted to Turkish by Çuhadaroğlu (1985) to determine the levels of self-esteem of the participants. The study data was analyzed by SPSS 25 package software. The obtained data were represented as values of frequency (f), percentage (%), average (x-), and standard deviation (±). Pearson Correlation analysis was applied in order to determine the effect of physical activity attitudes on self-esteem. The age average of the participants was determined to be 16,28 (±0,97). The gender distribution was 312 females and 314 males, and the number of those who were participating in licensed sports was 336, and that of those who were not was 290. It was determined that there was a positive correlation between the participants’ attitude towards physical activity and their self-esteem. In conclusion, a positive correlation was found between the attitude towards physical activity and self-esteem. In the study, it was suggested that the tendencies towards physical activity should be protected.

Adjustment of adolescents in relation to their gender and religion was investigated. Gender (Male and Female) and religion (Hindu and Muslim) were treated as independent variables whereas adjustment was treated as a dependent variable. The sample comprised of 282 high school students (from class IX and X) of state Government schools of Guwahati city that belonged to lower middle-income group. The multi-stage sampling method was used for selecting the sample. Upadhyay-Saxena Socio-Economic Status (USSES) Scale, Adjustment Inventory for School Students (AISS) and Personal Information Data sheet were administered to all the participants. Mean, Standard Deviation and ANOVA were calculated to analyze the responses. The findings of the study revealed that females are better adjusted in the areas of emotional adjustment, educational adjustment and also in terms of total adjustment in comparison to males, which implies gender has a significant effect in the area of emotional adjustment, educational adjustment and also in the total adjustment of the adolescents. But no significant difference was found in the area of social adjustment between male and female adolescents. Further, it was found that religion has no significant effect on the adjustment among adolescents, which means that there is no significant difference in the adjustment of Hindu and Muslim adolescents of Guwahati city.
