Introduction. Keratocystic odontogenic tumor (KCOT) is defined as a benign cystic neoplasm of the jaws of odontogenic origin with a high rate of recurrence. The most lesions occur in the posterior part of the mandible. Treatment of KCOT remains controversial, but the goals of treatment should involve eliminating the potential for recurrence while minimizing surgical morbidity. However, another significant therapeutic problem related to the management of KCOT is an adequate and early reconstruction of the existing jaw defect, as well as appropriate aesthetic and functional rehabilitation of a patient, especially in cases of a very large destruction of the jaws bone. Case report. We presented a 65-year-old female patient with very large KCOT of the mandible. Orthopantomographic radiography showed a very large elliptical multilocular radiolucency, located on the right side of the mandible body and the ascending ramus of the mandible, with radiographic evidence of cortical perforation at the anterior border of the mandibular ramus and the superior border of the alveolar part of the mandible. The surgical treatment included two phases. In the first phase, the tumor was removed by enucleation and additional use of Carnoy solution, performing peripheral ostectomy and excision of the affected overlying mucosa, while in the second phase, restorative surgery of the existing mandibular defect was performed 6 months later. Postoperatively, we did not register any of postoperative complications, nor recurrence within 2 years of the follow-up. Conclusion. Adequate and early reconstruction of the existing jaw defect and appropriate aesthetic and functional rehabilitation of the patient should be the primary goal in the treatment of KCOT, having in mind the need for a long-term post-surgical follow-up.

This case report describes a 9-year-old boy with severe tooth wear as a result of drinking a single glass of soft drink per day. This soft drink was consumed over a period of one to two hours, while he was gaming intensively on his computer. As a result, a deep bite, enamel cupping, sensitivity of primary teeth and loss of fillings occurred. Therefore, dentists should be aware that in patients who are gaming intensively, the erosive potential of soft drinks can be potentiated by mechanical forces leading to excessive tooth wear.

Introduction: Rehabilitation with the use of overlay-type removable prostheses is indicated in cases of more severe occlusal dysfunction. This type of treatment meets the need for more immediate results, providing aesthetic improvement while the rehabilitation work is being done, while promoting the gradual rehabilitation of occlusal function, re-adjusting the intermaxillary relationship. In addition, the patient can anticipate the final result of the treatment beforethe definitive prosthesis is made. Objective: To show a clinical case of planning and execution of removable overlays. Case report: JCF patient had occlusal dysfunction and presented as main complaint the aesthetic and functional deficiency. He used a removable partial denture (PPR) only on the upper arch. The existing prosthesis did not present stability due to the loss of some dental elements, pillars of the PPR. Two overlays (upper and lower) were indicated because the patient had good periodontal conditions in the remaining dentalelements that were in a favorable position. Necessary exodontia, adequacy of the buccal environment with sub and supragingival scaling and the fabrication of overlays were performed. Conclusion: The use of temporary overlays can provide the necessary time for the patient to adapt to the new occlusal conformation in the period in which the restorations and definitive prostheses are expected to be performed. The use of overlays presented a satisfactoryresult for the proposed treatment, since it promoted the functional rehabilitation, restored aesthetic, even temporarily, and motivated the patient to continue the treatment. According to the patient, there were significant improvements in chewing quality and self-esteem.

ABSTRACT The loss of tooth substance due to attrition and abrasion may lead to sensitivity to hot and cold, compromised esthetics, loss of anterior guidance and decreased masticatory efficiency. This case report describes the oral rehabilitation of a patient with abrasion, attrition and missing teeth. Treatment consisted of endodontic treatments of multiple teeth followed by their full coverage restorations, and fixed partial dentures for replacement of missing teeth. Esthetic and functional rehabilitation resulted in patient satisfaction, and no complications were noted related to the treatment after 1 year. How to cite this article Kulkarni RS. Loss of occlusal vertical dimension is a frequently observed problem in the middle aged and aged population who intends to retain their natural dentition. This type of patient has very few treatment options one of which is overdenture. In this case report, a patient was treated with overlay removable partial denture for restoring the lost vertical dimension. This was provided as interim prosthesis. The follow up was done to observe the fulfillment of desired results. The clinical and laboratory procedure is described briefly. The treatment used for this case is cost effective and conservative solution for esthetic and functional rehabilitation. Since the material is acrylic resin, long term wear resistance is crucial for success of treatment.
