Abstract As current social and technological developments cause increasingly rapid change, it is more important than ever that institutional administrators implement leadership practices that add value to their organizations and ensure competitiveness in the digital era. For the vocational colleges which shape students to contribute to society’s economy as part of its workforce, the study of leadership characteristics can potentially create added value through management by integrating the V4 concept, called Happiness Value, into the leadership of executives. The research aimed to determine and examine these characteristics for modernized leadership of private education institutions using the Delphi method and the results of the study show that leaders have the ability to maximize value, in addition to institutional integrity and sustainability, through management integrating the Happiness Value concept, with five important leadership features being: 1) potential for ideas and creativity, 2) work processes, 3) interpersonal relationships, 4) communication and 5) information systems technology.

The 21st Century has brought a lot of challenges in developing the professional leadership characteristics of school leaders. Their roles are no longer limited in implementing educational policies and objectives but have become responsible for raising the generations and qualifying them in a rapidly changing era. However, in Thailand, it was observed that there were Thai principals and school leaders who were not adequately trained for school leadership. This descriptive research surveyed the profile of the school administrators of secondary schools in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand as well as their level of practice of the 21st-Century professional leadership standards. A questionnaire checklist adapted from the frameworks of Kelly Lambert (2001) and The Wallace Foundation (2013) was used to gather data. Data analysis showed that the school administrators are females, with master’s degrees, 55 years and older, and have few years of administrative experience. Further, they highly practiced the different 21st-century professional leadership standards; however, these were not influenced by their profile. Lastly, it was found out that there were no significant differences in the level of practice of the different 21st-century professional leadership standards as indicated by the profile indicators of the school administrators.

This study attempts to comparatively explore the correlation between transformational leadership characteristics of school administrators and school safety in teachers’ views. The sample of the research with a survey model consists of a total of 744 teachers employed in the central districts of the province of Mersin. In the research, the “Transformational Leadership Scale” and the “School Safety Scale” are incorporated as data gathering instruments. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, pearson’s product-moment correlation and multiple linear regression analysis technique are employed for the analysis of the data obtained from the study. It has been concluded that the transformational leadership characteristics of the participant school administrators are significant predictors of school safety in the participant teachers’ views.
