The computational fluid dynamic (CFD) is an influential method for measuring Heat transfer profiles for typical meteorological years. CFD codes are managed by numerical algorithms that may undertake fluid glide headaches. CFD offers the numerical results of partial differential equations with main airflow and heat transfer in a discretized association. The complex fluid glide and the warmth transfer publications worried in any heat exchanger can be determined with the help of the CFD software program (Ansys Fluent). A study states and framework which implicitly rely on the computational fluid dynamics, which is being formulated for computing the efficiency-related parameters of the thermal part and the capability of the EATHE system for cooling. A CFD simulation program is being used for modeling the system. The framework is being validated with the help of the simulation set-up. A thermal model was developed to analyze thermal energy accumulated in soil/ground for the purpose of room cooling/heating of buildings in the desert (hot and dry) climate of the Bikaner region. In this study, the optimization of EATHE design has been performed for finding the thermal performance of straight, spiral, and helical pipe earth air tunnel heat exchanger and Heat transfer rate for helical pipe was found maximum among all designs.

AbstractThis study presents a numerical analysis of a laminar counter flow inside small channels plate heat exchanger fitted with Y and C shape obstacles. Using the Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD, an advanced and modern simulation technique, the influence of the geometrical parameters (such as geometry, rib pitch) on the flow characteristics, the thermal and the hydrodynamics performance of the PHE (plate heat exchanger) is investigated numerically. The main goal of this work is to increase the flow turbulence, enhance the heat transfer and the thermal efficiency by inserting new obstacles forms. The computational domain is a conjugate model which is developed by the Computer Aided Design CAD software Solidworks. The results, obtained with Ansys Fluent, show that the presence of the shaped ribs provides enhancement in heat transfer and fluid turbulence. The CFD analysis is validated with the previous study. The non-dimensional factors such as the Nusselt number Nu, the skin friction factor Cf and the thermo-hydraulic performance parameter THPP are predicted with a Reynolds number Re range of 200–800. The temperature and the velocity distribution are presented and analyzed. The Y ribs and the C ribs offer as maximum THPP values respectively about 1.44 and 2.6 times of a smooth duct.

This paper aims to demonstrate how to model, mesh and simulate a hydraulic propeller turbine runner based on the geometrical specification of the runner blade. Modeling process is divided into preparation and implementation phase. Preparation phase illustrates how to develop stream surfaces and passages, how to create and transform meanline and how to create an rtzt file. The profile in rtzt file has a certain fix thickness which has to be altered later. Implementation phase describes operations necessary in creating a propeller runner model in ANSYS BladeGen which consist of importing rtzt file, modifying the trailing edge properties and altering profile thickness distribution to that of 4 digits NACA airfoil standard. Grid is generated in ANSYS TurboGrid utilizing ATM Optimized topology. CFD simulation is done using the ANSYS Fluent with pressure inlet and pressure outlet boundary conditions and k-ε turbulence model. Hydraulic efficiency of the runner is calculated utilizing Turbo Topology module in ANSYS Fluent. The authors will share the advantages that may be obtained by using ANSYS BladeGen compared with the use of general CAD Systems.

In this research, the trapezoidal shaped chevron plate heat exchanger (PHE) is simulated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to determine its heat transfer capacity and friction factor. The PHE is modelled with chevron angles from 30° to 60°, and also the performances are compared with the plain PHE. The validation is done by comparing simulation result with published references using 30° trapezoidal chevron PHE. The Nusselt number and friction factor obtained from simulation model is plotted against different chevron angles. The Nusselt number and friction factor is also compared with available references, which some of the references used sinusoidal chevron PHE. The general pattern of Nusselt number and friction factor with increasing chevron angle agrees with the references. The heat transfer capacity found in current study is higher than the references used, and at the same time, the friction factor also increased. Besides this, it is also found that the counter flow configuration has better heat transfer capacity performance than the parallel flow configuration.

The heat transfer in annular heat exchanger with titanium oxide of 1.0 volume % concentration as the medium of heat exchanger is considered in this study. The heat transfer simulation of the flow is performed by using Computational Fluid Dynamics package, Ansys Fluent. The heat transfer coefficients of water to titanium oxide nanofluid flowing in a horizontal counter-flow heat exchanger under turbulent flow conditions are investigated. The results show that the convective heat transfer coefficient of the nanofluid is slightly higher than that of the base fluid by several percents. The heat transfer coefficient increases with the increase of the mass flow rate of hot water and also the nanofluid.

This paper deals with a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation of the heat transfer process during turbulent hot water flow between two chevron plates in a plate heat exchanger. A three-dimensional model with the simplified geometry of two cross-corrugated channels provided by chevron plates, taking into account the inlet and outlet ports, has been designed for the numerical study. The numerical model was based on the shear-stress transport (SST) k-! model. The basic characteristics of the heat exchanger, as values of heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop, have been investigated. A comparative analysis of analytical calculation results, based on experimental data obtained from literature, and of the results obtained by numerical simulation, has been carried out. The coefficients and the exponents in the design equations for the considered plates have been arranged by using simulation results. The influence on the main flow parameters of the corrugation inclination angle relative to the flow direction has been taken into account. An analysis of the temperature distribution across the plates has been carried out, and it has shown the presence of zones with higher heat losses and low fluid flow intensity.

Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) has been applied in many areas, such as EHD atomization, EHD enhanced heat transfer, EHD pump, electrospray nanotechnology, etc. EHD atomization is a promising materials deposition technique as it allows uniform and regular deposition, and offers a range of other advantages, such as low cost compared with other current techniques, easy set-up, high deposition rate, and ambient temperature. Simulation is carried out using ANSYS FLUENT system. The approach in this work was to simultaneously solve the coupled (EHD) and electrostatic equations. The fields of velocities and pressure, as well as electric characteristics of EHD flows, are calculated. The model does not include a droplet break-up model.

Heat exchanger plays a major role in almost all mechanical industries. Enhancement of heat transfer surface plays major role in numerous applications such as in heat exchangers, refrigeration and air conditioning systems etc. This paper examines the fluid flow and heat exchange on the air side of a multi-row fin-and-tube heat exchanger. A brief comparison is given between fin-and-tube heat exchanger attributes with louvered fins in a wider range of operating conditions defined by inlet air velocities. The brief representation on the calculated data for the louvered heat exchanger shows better heat transfer characteristics with a slightly higher pressure drop. The CFD procedure is validated by comparing the numerical simulation results with different inlet air velocities. Best combination of higher heat transfer and minimum pressure drop are occurred in inlet air velocity of 2.5 m/s.
