In recent years, the process carried out in the GACIPE research group is related to the development of the base technology of the manufacturing and metalworking industry. The machine tools that are vital for the consolidation and competitiveness of the industry in any country has been approached through two approaches: The design and construction of the new machine. In this aspect, the modeling of the structure and the displacements’ parameterization allows defining the precision of the movements and the rational use of energy. The adaptation and repowering of a used machine. In this approach, the recovery and technological updating proposed to recover its performance, becoming an excellent alternative to improving and perfecting the production of a company. In both cases, the CNC milling machine tools are controlled by free software. The application proposed is mechanized in soft materials.

CNC machine tools are currently predominating in the machine-building industry. Generally, these machine tools are equipped with control systems supplied by the world's leading manufacturers, such as Siemens, Fanuc or HeidenHein, and are very expensive. In parallel, many cheap amateur and semi-professional CNC machine tool solutions are being developed. Below, a CNC milling machine of welded construction is described, which is intended to be, at the same time, a test stand. The design of the milling machine is based on steel closed sections of a large cross-section and a big wall thickness. This has allowed a rigid frame structure to be obtained. To obtain high displacement accuracy, high-accuracy profiled rail slideways have been used, along which pre-stressed linear ball bearings move. The machine tool has been furnished with a fourth numerically controlled axis, which is demountable.

For CNC machine tool, reliability is the key to its quality. Load spectrum is a time-domain distribution of load, and is the key to reliability design and test of CNC machine tools. In order to obtain the load spectrum for reliability test, this paper researches the load spectrum of the typical CNC lathe and CNC milling machine through the analysis and calculation of the actual machining information, and presents the analysis and calculation method of load spectrum, and gives the CNC lathe and CNC milling machine load spectrum curves through actual data examples.

Monolithic samples are made of carbon fiber based on fabrics that are cured by infusion. Perforation is carried out on a CNC milling machine after confirmation and on special equipment until confirmation. Samples are cut from the plate at an angle of 4–5°, as the orientation of the holes in real sound-absorbing structures. Samples tested for tensile strength according to GOST 56785–2015. Samples cut from plates made by molding give 25% higher results than samples obtained by processing on a CNC machine.

Abstract The work discussed in this paper is a part of the project to build an automated robotic cell for removing two tabs from a Jet Engine Turbine Blade using a 3-axis CNC milling machine and for laser marking several lines of part information onto the blade body. The two tabs are extensions of the Turbine Blade, in which the necessary part information is ingrained. The part information is used as the identification of the Turbine Blade throughout its entire manufacturing process. The two tabs also serve as anchors during the milling of the body of the Turbine Blade in a 5-axis CNC machine. Once the milling of the blade body is done, the two tabs will be removed from the blade body. Removing tabs is currently being done in the same 5-axis CNC milling machine. It is expensive and wastes 5-axis machine time. Therefore, using a 3-axis CNC milling machine to remove tabs is proposed with a robot to tend machines to be cost-effective. Due to the complexity of the Turbine Blade having 3-D wavy geometry, it adds challenges in undertaking any operations on the blade with automation. As automation is becoming relevant in many industries including the Aerospace, the method discussed in this paper can be used as a general guideline for carrying out material handling tasks with a thin part of wavy geometry by using a collaborative robot.

Through the methods using combination ball-bar with laser interferometer, we carry on accuracy measurement and error compensation of three-axis CNC milling machine. We finally find out the main factors affecting the machining accuracy of machine tool. In the meantime we can improve repeatability of positioning accuracy and the machine's positioning and meet the processing needs by means of the existing error compensation of the CNC machine tools.

Glass is one of the most difficult materials to be machined due to its brittle nature and unique structure such that the fracture is often occurred during machining and the surface finish produced is often poor. CNC milling machine is possible to be used with several parameters making the machining process on the glass special compared to other machining process. However, the application of grinding process on the CNC milling machine would be an ideal solution in generating special products with good surface roughness. This paper studies how to optimize the different machining parameters in glass grinding operation on CNC machine seeking for best surface roughness. These parameters include the spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, lubrication mode, tool type, tool diameter and tool wear. To optimize these machining parameters in which the most significant parameters affecting the surface roughness can be identified, Taguchi optimization method is used with the orthogonal array of L8(26). However, to obtain the most optimum parameters for best surface roughness, the signal to noise (S/N) response analysis and Pareto analysis of variance (ANOVA) methods are implemented. Finally, the confirmation test is carried out to investigate the improvement of the optimization. The results showed an improvement of 8.91 % in the measured surface roughness.

Abstract The development of mechanical processing machines with integrated CNC systems allows the manufacturing industry to produce complex products quickly with high quality. CNC has become a main course for mechanical students in technical and vocational universities. CNC machine training is required to enhance student’s skills to learning in design and manufacturing technology. However, the cost to buy a CNC machine is not cheap. In a developing country like Vietnam, along with the limited budget of most universities, this is an obstacle for students to have the opportunity to use CNC machines. To help students have a teaching aid in learning, improve practice capacity. The article proposes an alternative to design and manufacture a simple, inexpensive milling machine with all the required functions. The CAD models design of the machine model structure were done using Solidwork and NX software. Most of the machine’s parts are manufactured and assembled in the Faculty of Engineering Mechanics and Automation laboratory of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University Hanoi. The study’s main objective is to propose a process for designing and manufacturing a mini vertical 3-axis CNC milling machine with low cost but full features similar to an industrial CNC machine. The machine model introduced in the article can be used as a teaching aid, improving practical capacity for students of machine building

Error detection and compensation technology is an economical and effective method for improving the precision of CNC machine tool. The paper established the geometric errors model of three-axis CNC milling machine based on homogeneous coordinates transformation theory. Error detection is tested by digital ball bar and error compensation software is developed for XK7132 milling machine, the compensation effect is evaluated by a laser interferometer. The results show that the precision of CNC milling machine is improved effectively by the proposed method.
